Fly Me To The Moon

there are ninety ways
to fly to the moon
but
just one phone call
a slow sexy drawl
on  the other end
transmitting
sparkles down the line
transports me there
in a second
cheap space travel

Photo Challenge - MLMM

Kavan Cardoza

eventually
the icy blue fingers
of reality
creep up unawares

daubing the door posts
with lamb's blood
is no guarantee
of
escaping its grip

being quiet
remaining perfectly still
will not fool it into
softening its grasp
either

reality's tapered fingers
will split one open
like a pod of peas

even  those of us who have
manoeuvred the dance
to keep three steps ahead
fall at its faintest touch

my heart sinks at dusk

Brescianello - Sinfonia for Strings and Basso continuo in F-Major, Op. 1...

Brescianello In The Bush

my morning
wake up music

putting on the jug
the clatter of  pretty tea cups
looking out on to the blue plains
the long grass
waving feathery fronds
saying good morning
to the nasturtiums
and the currawongs

merci
tu fais
ma vie si belle

Climate Of Fear

bodies and blood
screams in the dark
in tears of grief
the belgians mourn
for their dead
hearts cry to thee
o saviour dear
hold your love close
in the reign of terror
rest thou softly
softly here
hold your love close
who knows
what lies ahead
rest thou softly
softly here

unwanted species

Haibun

Pondering the spinach, like Descartes staring into the fire, transfixed by the glossy leaves, a voice offered to assist her. She saw another customer standing there , in disbelief, grey bearded yarmulked with payot. Flummoxed, she lied saying she was looking for some tomatoes. He guided her to the right aisle, giving a running commentary on the different varieties along the way , then vanished.

she was the shadow
of past memories  - her eyes
gave her away

This tree was said to be the oldest tree in the Amazon ( 5,800 years old)

a wicked act it seems to me
the trees destroyed all gone you see
the loggers came and chopped them down
upset the locals ruin the town

in spite of moans and hot protest
the loggers smirked  chop chop with zest
then came the scuffles fights and frowns
upset the locals ruin the town

angry farmers no more hiring
said get stuffed and came out firing
you can't keep honest good men down
upset the locals ruin the town

a wicked thing it seeks to me
upset the locals ruin the town

For The Weekend

Matthew McDonald ( double bass player ) is the first Australian to ever obtain a principal position in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, said to be the world's finest. Not bad for a boy from Canberra who started off as a rock musician, on an electric bass guitar.

Quick Step Jive

a flower was offered to me
red and rich with  promise
1 step forward

i gave seven sensible reasons
why i should not accept it
2 steps backwards

making light of my refusal
all the while
quick quick

secretly
wanting so much
to make that flower mine
slow

so we dance round each other

who knows
if we will ever master the steps
and make it to the end
