HAIBUN

She loves this song
She will never know
a love like this
But likes to believe it exists

For her it will always belong in the fantasy box
A pile of impossible dreams she likes to visit sometimes
Rummages about in
Tries them on for size
Slow dancing with a pottlepot
Escape for a moment
Before she unpacks yet another box
Puts on another load of laundry
And turns back into a pumpkin

elusive dreams
caught up in a fantasy
just for a moment

Leonard Cohen - I'm Your Man

1. If you want a lover
I'll do anything that you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you
If you want a partner, take my hand, or
If you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man

2. If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
I'll examine every precious inch of you
If you want a driver, climb inside
Or if you want to take me for a ride
You know damn well that you can
I'm your man

3. But, the moon's too bright
The chain's too tight
The beast won't go to sleep
I've been running through all of these promises to you
That I made and I could not keep
Ah, but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I'd crawl to you baby and I'd fall at your feet
And I'd howl at your beauty like a dog in heat
And I'd claw at your heart, and I'd tear at your sheet
I'd say please (please)
I'm your man

4.  And if you've want to sleep a minute on the road
I will steer for you
And if you want to work the room alone
I'll disappear for you
If you want a father for your child
Or only want to walk with me another mile across the burning sands
I'm your man

3. But the moon's too bright...

If you want a lover
i will do anything that you ask me to
And if you want to try another kind of love
I'll wear an old man's  mask for you
If you want a partner, take my hand, or
If you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man

Three Word Wednesday

far-fetched, halting,gamy

it all seemed
too far fetched

what?

a gamy
reality show irk
a shonky business man
talking his way into
becoming the president
of the most powerful nation
on earth

never !
not possible

people could not be
that stupid

halted in our tracks
it became a reality
a few hours ago

lederhosen
jack boots, shrill voices
fly through the memory

ma grandmere me chuchote
allez allez allez
run as fast as you can

Requiem

today marks a change
for the whole world

a new path
has been forged

to what?

a return to the dark ages
the only glimpse of light
being
the gold plated taps
in the trump tower

Tanka

deep dark forest
seeking for nature's mysteries
a new day rises -
after a long and steamy night
she departs ... without a kiss

Chevrefeuille

he feted her for years
she relents -reveals her love
his mission accomplished
flees like a startled gazelle
marathon runner of the year

Shadorma

Today’s poem is “Traveling Through the Dark” by William E. Stafford:

*
Traveling through the dark I found a deer
dead on the edge of the Wilson River road.
It is usually best to roll them into the canyon:
that road is narrow; to swerve might make more dead.
.
By glow of the tail-light I stumbled back of the car
and stood by the heap, a doe, a recent killing;
she had stiffened already, almost cold.
I dragged her off; she was large in the belly..

My fingers touching her side brought me the reason—
her side was warm; her fawn lay there waiting,
alive, still, never to be born.
Beside that mountain road I hesitated.
.
The car aimed ahead its lowered parking lights;
under the hood purred the steady engine.
I stood in the glare of the warm exhaust turning red;
around our group I could hear the wilderness listen.
.
I thought hard for us all—my only swerving—,
then pushed her over the edge into the river.

head or heart
take the decision
do what's right
take a stand
endure the consequences
you will be stronger

Bach - Goldberg Variations: Aria (Glenn Gould)

nodding off
to the aria
by soft candle light
on a pile of cushions
luxuriating
in a rare moment of peace
from a world  gone mad

i pray
when  i sink
into the long sleep
it will be like this
quiet
alone
then
out like a light

Mozart - Lacrimosa

All Souls Day

we pray for our dead
our departed families
remembered and loved
on this holy day of obligation

we pray for those
whom no one prays for
unknown
forgotten
not remembered

those  souls who pass through
without leaving an imprint
unnoticed
unwanted
unloved
flotsam bobbing on the ocean
God's most precious
God's most loved

"what you do unto the least of my brethren
you do unto me"Matthew 25:40
