Friday Writings # 96

was born

by the sea

went to a convent

by the sea

home is the beach

the sea is in my blood

all of us for generations

hail from islands

 later

home became the bush

( still only a 45 minute drive from the coast )

this house was built by the locals in a weekend

to entice a teacher to work at the school house across the road

(rent free about 80 years ago)

carnations and fresh herbs

in an old jam jar

can make a tin shed

feel like a home

however

wherever

we are together

in sickness and in health

(mainly sickness these days)

 is home

. Shadorma

 it's his job

to guard the old doors

no entry

please stay out

piled up plants and furniture

to deter the hordes

his mother

had warned him about

tricky folk

don't trust them

they'll give you food and shelter

then get dogs as well

WHIRLIGIG # 441

case marked urgent
tremulous at the thought
fear rippled across her brow
words failed her
she refused to believe the claim
that he had put thistle weeds bird seed
lemons in the hibiscus tea
he being her brother
complicates matters

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "Jurupa Hills/Riverside" by Aaron Boothby: urgent, tremulous, rippled, words, claim, refused, lemons, hibiscus, thistle, birds, complicates, weeds

Friday Writings # 95...Poets and Storytellers United

"time you old gypsy man
will you not stay
put up your caravan
just for one day"

'fraid not
time rushes by
accelerating at the end
peers pop off the perch
your turn next
now you have nothing to lose

buy a stash
of the most expensive nougat bars
eat mango ice cream every day
wear flowers in your hair

tell con at the fruit shop
how bewdiful he is
how you would never shop
anywhere else
even for a bargain price

how you would only be too happy
to mind the shop for a cuppla days
whenever he wants to take a break

O Take those lips Away

 take two music students

sitting on a stone wall

outside the church

waiting for the bus

armed with a cello and viola

take two wide eyed girls

who had just discovered alfred deller

and elizabethan music

completely wrapped

(thank you Miss Pinwill)

take two giggling girls

crank starting an old Ford

take two adventurous spirits

both disappearing from each other in pursuit

of their big dreams

take those two old sheilas

at the hardware store

half a century later

with nothing to say to each other

WORDLE # 340....MLMM

sigh

sigh

what a gorgeous carpenter

wish he would work

on my ranch

she can relate to his warmth

heartily delighted  that

he became a  successful actor

 and diverged into a celebrity

he marches to the beat of a different drum

can play any role alloted to him

from skid row derelict to super hero heart throb

flying high still making movies at 80

he's in a class of his own

Friday Writings....PSU

 storm love ink

they've weathered the storms

been through a lot of tough times

but at this age

no one can spill ink on their dawn

they have each other

they have love

they have everything

LEST WE FORGET.....

WHATS GOING ON ...POETRY BLOG

we are warned
not to leave the house
if we are elderly
immune compromised
very young
or have respiratory problems

it has been decided
to burn off around sydney
in preparation for a future summer disaster
predicted as bad as in the northern hemisphere

we are now the most air polluted city on earth
worse than mumbai or bejing
it should be over by the weekend
so they say (yeah sure )
she's fed up
being  imprisoned inside her beachside apartment
doors and windows closed
and then she thinks of you

she thinks of you a lot
and feels appalled and ashamed
at what you all had to endure
it's still hard to process
that our species is capable
of such unimaginable monstrous evil

the bard was right
hell is empty
all the devils are here

Whirligig # 439

ocean stairwell apartment lined manner  pills
bees rug dance wanted bowl hold

Words From
Rooms by the Sea
by Lauren Aliza Green

apartments by the ocean
wanted by the cool young affluent crowd
are expensive and in great demand
buyers are bowled over by
stairwells lined with luxury carpet
designed in the turkish rug manner
lots of wild pill popping dance parties
have taken a hold in the beach area
birds and bees activities are at a peak
especially on the weekend

FRIDAY WRITINGS # 93 Poets and Story Tellers United

WORDLE

select
ordinary
sunlight
punctuate
quest
unflagging
elusive
ingenuity
changes
buried
amber
scatter/ed

just another ordinary day
a lady selects   some flowers
on her walk to celebrate the spring

no longer buried under woolly scarves and coats
enjoying the changes in weather
she inhales the scent of  fragrant blossoms
scattered  in a warm light breeze
the rustle of spring

sunlight punctuates the amber coloured leaves
she sighs in awe at the ingenuity of the birds
singing with unflagging enthusiasm
happiness no longer seems elusive in her quest
for a few quiet gentle moments of beauty
in a troubled world
