my only me time
a luxury
past three o clock and a cold frosty morning
sounds of silence
music to my ears
miraculous
in a beachside suburb in the middle of a big city
now if only an invisible person
could bring me a hot chocolate
my only me time
a luxury
past three o clock and a cold frosty morning
sounds of silence
music to my ears
miraculous
in a beachside suburb in the middle of a big city
now if only an invisible person
could bring me a hot chocolate
itty bitty cheeky
will arrive on your doorstep
a pleasant surprise ! OR maybe even shock horror !
suppose she should have waited
for an invitation
but as someone who had learned a very long time ago
that good things do not come to those who wait
she decided to flex her muscles and grab
the bull by the horns
Commenters are invited to fill in the blank caption :)
late autumn chill now
it's getting dark earlier
yum meat pies and chips
the best thing about winter
quite a cold one predicted
...............................................
bears are very smart
they hibernate for winter
such a great idea
they love sydney harbour
opera house in mind
having a whale of a time
the expression perfectly coined
sydney whales rock
such lovely creatures
emanating contagious joy
giant bundles of happiness
lying in bed
on a cold windy saturday afternoon
staring out at the sky
i look at the minature plane
flying through the clouds
am i envious
no
do i want to travel again
no
all i want and have
is shelter a short walking distance
to a beach
a village shopping centre
food on the table
music
a poetry blog
internet
and my cuddle buddy
cosy under my big fur rug

and don't have
is good health
for the both of us
the missing component
and
the most important
thirteen days of rain
autumn has stopped its weeping
the sun shines weakly
clothes dryers working full pelt
how did they manage before
our grans did it tough
hanging the clothes out on rope
between two gum trees
sturdy stock kept on going
through storms hail stones wind and rain
Trim was the ship’s cat under the command of Matthew Flinders on voyages to circumnavigate and
map the coastline of Australia from 1801 to 1803. He was therefore the first cat to circumnavigate
Australia. Sadly, it seems he was stolen and eaten by hungry slaves. A statue to Trim was later erected,
and he has been the subject of a number of works of literature. A statue sits on a window sill on the
outside of the Sydney Library, in Sydney, Australia. The plaque on Trim’s statue reads
TO THE MEMORY OF TRIM
The best and most illustrious of his race
The most affectionate of friends,
faithful of servants,
and best of creatures
He made the tour of the globe, and a voyage to Australia,
which he circumnavigated, and was ever the
delight and pleasure of his fellow voyagers . . . .
Written by Matthew Flinders in memory of his cat
Captain Matthew Flinders
Matthew Flinders (16 March 1774 – 19 July 1814) was a British navigator and cartographer who led
the first inshore navigation of mainland Australia . He is also credited as being the first person to use
the name Australia to describe the entirety of that continent , a title he regarded as being "more
agreeable to the ear" than Terra Australis . In a little open boat called the "Tom Thumb" he set sail with
his cat Trim to chart the entire Australian coast line. He is relatively unknown to the rest of the world
but Down Under he and his cat Trim are national heroes. They have been the subjects of many books.

On the return to England in 1803 Flinders stopped off in Mauritius for
repairs. Away at sea and without
news, he was not aware that England and France were now at war and he was arrested as a spy on
arrival in this French colony. His incarceration would last almost 7 years.

mothers day
twenty five years now
a sad loss
life is cruel
once you have gone through the storm
it's never the same
the milky way
streaked across an outback sky
nature's testament to the divine
not a grand cathedral
nor a famous work of art
not owned by anyone
but belonging to everyone
priceless and magnificent
the best things in life are free
the drizzling rain goes
on and on without respite
never seems to end
this year brings a very wet autumn
heralding a bleak winter
northern hemisphere
now is the month of maying
sunshine and blossoms
the king singers in pink ties
express the seasonal joy
