that haunting sound|
of the train whistle
still remembered
a journey headlong
into the unknown
with no one waving goodbye
tis miraculous
she has survived this long
a one man band
performing a tightrope walk act
without a net
no sound of one hand clapping
just the sound of silence

Cleverly written - the fragments of memory feel tangible and sad and yet she has survived and that is good - Jae
ReplyDeleteOh indeed, is there anything more haunting and more lonely than a train whistle disappearing down the distance? Perhaps the sound of silence is preferable, particularly if that is also the sound of survival. And maybe we're entitled to applaud ourselves!
ReplyDeletePowerfull great poem It feels like an act of courage to walk the tightrope without applause
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she has survived despite painful moments. Awesome, Rall! 👍
ReplyDeletePoignant. The wistful sound of a train whistle fading into the unknown is a melancholy metaphor.
ReplyDeletePotent imagery in this one!
ReplyDeletelove the concept of continuity, no ceremonial start or permanent ending
