the joy
of driving home at twilight
across the plains
with van morrison
the joy
of the lone driver
on the high way
as the sun sinks behnd the mountains
wishing you were here
the joy
of still being in love
with you
The Joy Of Love Songs
a memory
a poem written
ten years ago
if i
did not write poems
i would not remember
things like this it's better than a
journal
at this point in my life, you're right. blogging is doable for me than writing in a journal. i loved this, thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnd you loved it back then too. Jan 6 2016. Thank you.:)
ReplyDeleteI remember this poem, and love it all over again too.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me recall my late friend Philip Martin quoting Alice in Wonderland as to why he wrote poetry: 'That moment,' the King went on, 'I shall never, NEVER forget!' 'You will, though,' the Queen said, 'If you don't make a memorandum of it.'
And the song's been one of my favourites since I was a youngster; this version is good.
Rall, your poem took me back to my joy, driving home to Tofino back in the day, the glorious scenery, the music on the cd player, the joy of going home to the only Home I have ever had. I agree, our poems chart our journey. I have always said the people who read the writings of my heart know me better than my real life people.
ReplyDeleteOh I went with you in the twilight Beautiful and I agree when you write you get to focus on these good things
ReplyDeleteI love your journey in words here - I feel the same - our poems are our life story - Jae
ReplyDeletePoetry is such a versatile thing, both art form and sanity tender.
ReplyDeleteI knew it!! A fellow Morrison fan. I could listen to him forever. A great poem, Rall.
ReplyDeleteIntense memory of a song and associations with it!
