Country Life

not considered worthy by vogue
a bit ordinary by jove
bushie's bash

we don't want washing on naff racks
tea towels bed socks and builders cracks
stylefree zone

to me this is so delightful
unpretentious real and soulful
a still life

cezanne might like the tomatoes
wild artists and desperadoes
outback chic

i love dracaena and cactus
lying on a sun lounge mattress
rural cool

Pocket Wilderness

Patti Joyce

afternoon adventures
in that pocket wilderness
lovely thoughts of a summer childhood

a tiger and a ferocious hound of the baskerville
lurked in the bushes
waiting to pounce on us and drag us away
to their lairs

swinging on  low hung branches
we  imagined ourselves to be
jungle jane girlfriends of tarzan

running through  waterfalls
getting saturated shrieking
we built a shelter  out of branches
our secret hidey hole

and all within a stone's throw
of the kitchen  back door
and the call to come in for tea

cheeky clowns and comical
squawkers and shriekers
stagger as they walk like drunks
hungover from a night out

For The Golden Oldies

if a prime minister
or
president
wants to connect to his people
move and groove
to the pointer sisters
make mary's day

inject a little light and air
into  political life
write the occasional poem
sing in the bath
and iron your own shirt
now and then

Sydney

a city
of harbour beaches
of surf beaches
of ferries and sail boats
a water sprite's dream

over developed
expensive

it does show
through music
he shines his guitar into
the deep of her eyes

romantic
brings a little light
into life

July 4th

lady liberty is very distressed
the donald devil has made such a mess
doing a deal here doing a deal there
closing borders while combing over his hair

celebrating independence holiday
turkey laden table with fine food array
the donald sits with his family and raises a glass
we're doing fine folks so they can all kiss my arse
my new best mates are comrade kim and uncle vlad
so c'mon now peeps things can't be that bad

we're bigger and better  than everyone else
i came along in time the country is blessed
i am the president so what can go wrong
everyone's safe we've got millions of bombs

A Symphony of Tennis Grunts

anyone for tennis ?
i remember ladies tennis
hit miss and giggle
playing the ball to each other
without aggression and grunting
the soft pop of tennis balls
on a saturday afternoon
pitchers of lemonade and half time oranges
a genteel  pleasant game
alas no longer

the thwack of  deadly missiles
break the speed barrier
screaming and grunts
at the wimbledon war games
yes folks
tennis  porn at its best
