All The Small Things

she hugged them both
almost in tears
thrilled and delighted
she had struck gold
scarlett o hara came to mind
finding that last carrot in the field

a few months ago
who would have thought
 two bottles of laundry liquid
could spark such a reaction

Sunday Muse # 101

a neighbour left this
on beryl's doorstep

she was short on
kitty litter
so found a good use
for this unwanted gift

incensed
she decided to leave
the bearer a message

YOU CAN .....  ....  RUBBISH ..  YOUR  .... !

and never felt so good
in  a long long time

FOR MY BLOGGER FRIENDS
WITH THANKS
GOD BLESS
TAKE CARE

feeling blue
feeling a 100 years old
chin up
things could be worse
you earn more than two dollars a week
you have a home
you can afford to buy the 50 year old cab driver an ice cream
(he never had one before)
you're sturdy and upright
here's lookin' at you kid

Weekly Scribblings # 11

Tell me, is the rose naked
or is that her only dress?

Why do trees conceal
the splendor of their roots?'
Who hears the regrets
of the thieving automobile?
Is there anything in the world sadder
than a train standing in the rain?
NERUDA

is there anything in the world sadder
than a train standing in the rain?
 yes -
the rough train ride ahead
trying to outrun and survive
the corona virus
for millions of vulnerable people

oh for the luxury to reflect
on  sad wet trains and naked roses
 the stuff of dreamers
with stacks of toilet paper medication and a full larder

why do the trees conceal the splendor of their roots?
because  they are smart
they understand if anything is beautiful
it will be destroyed by humans sooner or later

Nearer my God to Thee
hmm...Wonder why that hymn popped into my head
remember that scene in the movie  !

it may come to that
it may not come to that
gotta cat?
puss will let you know before social media does

will the survivors learn anything from this terrible time?
history has told us  that already

Weekly Scribblings # 10

some of us are night owls- ben
we flourish after midnight
maybe not wealthy or wise
in your world
our pots of gold
don't come in coins
but in the delicious peace and quiet
of  the late night witching hours
a cool sea breeze
slightly lifting the lace curtain
dancing in the moonlight
sipping a little nightcap
listening to the magic of vince

International Womens Day

at an all girls school
looking like
an orphan annie misfit
scraped knees
frayed weave on her uniform
a scrunched school hat
she rummaged in her pockets
dropping marbles and a notebook
on the chapel floor during Benediction
disturbing the black raven figures
chanting gregorian in their prieres dieu
lost in a hiraeth of medieval times
in the soft glow of candle light

they gave her the courage of her convictions
and unwittingly instilled a rebelliousness within
that she wore like the badge on her blazer pocket
throughout  her life

Wednesday Scribblings # 9

AUSTRALIA'S TOILET ROLL PANIC

oh dear what can the matter be
three old ladies got locked in the lavatory
goodness me no paper at all
aussies have stock piled toilet rolls from the store

oh dear what can the matter be
everyone's tense it's not common sense
we aussies like a good clean arse
this is beginning to sound like a farce

the garden hose will have to do
be resilient creative all the way through
this terrible time wont last forever
driving folks to the end of their tether

one day soon we will look up on high
see millions of toilet rolls
falling from the sky
enough for everyone
woohoo woopy doo

why they are doing it
i wouldn't have a clue
