Weekly Scribblings # 58 PSU

 the earth venus and jupiter

lined up

in the foreboding universe

in view

of a red bleak hostile mars

waiting

for another earthling  catastrophe knowing their propensity

to wreck

destroy and most likely pollute yet another planet

again

*A waltmarie is a ten-line poem in which the even lines are all two syllables in length and form their own mini-poem if read separately.

Already Dead - Earthweal Weekly Challenge

saturday  evening on the beach

getting our feet wet

watching the waves

as the breeze whips up the salty spray

to the cries of seagulls

the day  i am not bowled over

by the magnificence of  God's creation

know i am already dead

Sunday Muse # 147

there was only one horse

the big one

took ages to make

we were counting on

their greed and stupidity

it was very cramped in there

high summer and soldiers feet

not an ideal combination

when  they hauled us in through the gates

 we knew victory was ours

happened thousands of years ago

and they are still telling everyone

to beware of us bearing gifts

Sore Losers !

Weekly Scribblings # 56

 sometimes

they say

it's best to let things go

it's now called

good disagreement

you can be lawrence of arabia

taking no prisoners

you can be saint sebastian

with arrows sticking out of your chest

or

you could look out of the window

and contemplate if you should

add more tomato to the sauce

“Natural Woman” Digital Collage Art “Covid Creations” by Susie Clevenger

Weekly Scribblings # 55

 my mother loved

nice things

sewing dresses

 shopping for shoes

coffees and cake at vardis after the movies

 going into town

going to church

vogue magazine

playing the piano

reading novels

she passed a lot of it on to me

there was another side to her

she had a very keen sense of justice

and  always defended the underdog

this pretty  feminine woman was a spitfire

she did not mince her words

she took no prisoners

but compared to my grandmother

who could best be described as

a simmering volcano

both my mother and I  seemed docile and diffident

my grandmother and mother leave big shoes

which will never be filled by me

i miss them terribly
