One Liner Wednesday

A cat can look at a king but is not allowed to laugh.

if his majesty is holding an oboe

Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge # 326

 Close and Open (synonyms)

 Shadorma

 shut the door

draw back the curtains

look outside

that poor kid

so stoked with his brand new shoes

we are filled with shame

takes little

to make him happy

poor darling

most of us

have too much wealth and money

 no good comes from it

Sundays with Rall # 3

 Poetry with pics

a red beetle

an item

in the long list

of things

i wanted but never got

got one of these

for a birthday surprise

smiled for weeks and weeks

podiatrist's dream

client with a sense of humour

time on their hands as well

irresistible little angel

keeps the ladies clucky

and the world turning

baby it's cold outside

inside as well

when you can't afford heating

it's your birthday today

so many things unresolved

that flowers could not compensate for

nevertheless

i will always remember you

old money

new money

soon there will

no money

just cards

AndrĂ¡s Schiff - Bach concerto in D minor, BWV 1052

 a dose of purity

a dose of brilliance

a reminder of what man

is/was capable of

so desperately needed

in this dark age

rather than the abysmal decline

of civilisation

that continues to befall us

another renaissance?

yes

yes

yes

bring it on

SUNDAY WITH RALL # 2

 POETRY WITH PICS

church on sunday

yes it really was like this

a long time ago

doing the laundry

listening to the wireless

a dream come true

housewives weren't sneered at back then

they didn't know they were

second class citizens

most of our dresses

were made from vogue patterns

on a singer

shopping in town

was a dress up occasion

a very big deal

books were part of life

from an early age

little mothers and teachers

in the making

unused to poverty

she kept up appearances

even when serving water

ONE LINER WEDNESDAY

It's freezing cold down under and it doesn't help that tomorrow the electricity bill  increases by 60 %in NSW causing a lot of folk to dress for the arctic while at home because they cannot afford the power bill.

SOCS June 17

out of sight

out of mind

yep

know this one well

not really understandable

when she is such a sight

for sore eyes

yet

looks aren't everything

ding a ling

that old french saying

les bons comptes

font

les bons amis

hmmm

this could be a bit bitter

for a blog site

known for its humour

well in truth

it's not really known

at all

SUNDAYS WITH RALL

POETRY WITH PICS.

she likes a cup of twinings tea

that may sound a little twee

bring it  in a pretty pink cup

and she'll invite both penny and pup

they are little  sweeties  the best of friends

devoted great fans of a poet in bend

who likes old cars particularly utes

in a flower filled paddock she practises the flute

her gauche beau phil turned out to be a fake

an ignorant idiot just on the make

she sent him packing with a flea in his ear

and now he trembles and quakes in fear

NANA'S KITCHEN

Friday Writings #80 at Poets and Storytellers United

 i never wear an apron
like you did
don't shell peas
don't grind coffee beans by hand
or make fresh mayonnaise
anymore

i still marinate my own olives
remove all the stalk from the parsley
flatten the garlic with my hands
make all your recipes
and remember how to test a mango for sweetness

still use your battered little red saucepan
and i always have a cactus on the kitchen window sill
just like yours to remind myself of what it is like to have known
a truly generous selfless and loving human being
miss you darling

Hot Air Balloon Day in the US

she does not aspire
to cruising the clouds
by balloon or helicopter
has no regrets never doing so
she likes  landscape painting
doing portraits of indigenous chiefs
or any social activity on terra firma
rather than operate one of those sky bound contraptions
generating multiple conniptions
she would go to the opening of an envelope in preference

STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS SATURDAY

LEFT ALONE

just me

and pussy cat

on a desert island

don't bother

sending a message

in a bottle

passing boats wont find this place

ship wrecked by life

SATURDAY JUNE 10

THE LAST THING YOU FILLED (FORMS)

forms

filling in endless forms

torture

am i from the torres strait islands ?

do i live in a tree house?

was my mother a zulu princess?

what gender or animal species

do i belong to?

do i have horns a long tail

or carry a pitchfork?

insanity

who would have thought

kafkaesque

is a term for normal

in these bizarre times

Thursday Door Challenge

 Silverton near Broken Hill NSW

aussie outdoor dunny
called the long drop
few tourists have seen them
just as well
open holes in the ground
dotted across the outback
if you fall in
no one can hear you out there
