What's Going On.....Weariness

https//newwhatsgoingon.blogspot.com

crushed
devastated
weary

weary
of all the suffering in this world
her choice would be to  sleep all day long
block life out but duty calls
so so tired

others have worse woes to bear
she must count her blessings
the little rays of sunshine which sustain her
the incredible  kindness of strangers
the cab driver who gave her a tip ! (unheard of )
the delivery boy who said to call him
if she was ever  in need of anything
buying a bunch of singapore orchids
on special at the fruit shop
the return of mango season

and not least blogging with talented poets
whose camaraderie  and support is valued

sadly many are now being ruled by
a dangerous psychotic despot
in a country no longer democratic
where gun violence reigns supreme

holding hands across the ocean
thoughts and prayers for all of you

hide hedge ride shape difficult laugh ton shot stiff game balance precarious

hiding behind the hedge
he laughed his head off
this was a precarious game
but a ton of fun
with a stiff upper lip
she was giving this difficult ride
her best shot
trying to keep her balance on the swing
she thought she was in good shape

W3 PROMPT # 178-----FRIDAY WRITINGS # 196

silence
beneath the waves
a world at peace in a rockpool
holding her breath
she glides along lightly parting the weed
as the small fish dart out to greet her
silence
except for her racing heart beat
driven by the memory of a soft touch
soft word whispers of love
now too late
gone

Schubert Impomptu no 3...Alfred Brendel

FOR MY GRANDMOTHER.....ADELE ALEXANDRINE LUDIVINE

i still cherish those memories
of you in your rocking chair
embroidering
a glow of contentment radiating
from your beautiful face

your leisure time didn't happen often enough
you worked such long hours to give us everything
you could
to give us opportunities you never had

without you
i would never have had the experience
of ever being truly loved
merci ma chere grandmere

or fingers that can crush it

 is a sad time
 beautiful to look at

AI - An instant response to how it compares to humans.

Friday Writings # 195 - Poetry and Story Tellers United....WHAT SOOTHES YOU?

Lucas & Arthur Jussen- Poulenc Concerto For Two Pianos -Second Movement

soothing solace found
listening to two young brothers
playing a piano concerto
a chat with someone who
enjoys hearing from me
on the telephone
a smile from a stranger
comforting sweet comments
from blogger friends
and when i am sad a cuddle
with a ginger pussy cat

in a world
too busy
too burdened with suffering
one has to find some respite
in a realm
of gentleness
of loveliness
of peace and quiet without angst
there has to be some time
to bask in repose

Whats Going On....Womens Rights...Then and Now

 Shadorma

they were brave
at last we can vote
thanks to them
for their fight
for equality for all
courageous women

Cinquain

we marched
for womens rights
we would not surrender
we demanded equality
we won

today
the struggle continues
a prurient pestilent force

FRIDAY WRITINGS # 193...tell me somethng good

old and frail
with a disability walker
he considerately moved out of my way
as he saw me in sisyphean mode
pushing a  mountain of shopping
in my trolley
we began to laugh and chat
he seemed happy to do so
on leaving I thanked him
telling him how much i enjoyed
our conversation whereupon
he kissed my hand
a first for me
unexpected at this age too

WHAT"S GOING ON MIRRORS + ... W3 PROMPT # 175

 newwhatsgoingon.blogspot.com

The Greek Myth...Narcissus and Echo

she loved him
deeply
more than deeply
knowing
it would never be mutual
 knowing it could never be

he only had eyes for himself
on a mission of self absorption
obsessed with his reflection
overwhelmed by his wonderment

nevertheless she needed to be
near him
his presence gave her joy
his absence grief

even when he was transformed
into a narcissus flower
she kept him close
day and night

to capture the sheer wonder
of your magnitude
spying behind my curtains
transfixed watching you rehearse

the trees remain still
the birds hush themselves in awe
entranced and outdone
you are oblivious to
your stunned  secret audience
