crushed
devastated
weary
weary
of all the suffering in this world
her choice would be to sleep all day long
block life out but duty calls
so so tired
others have worse woes to bear
she must count her blessings
the little rays of sunshine which sustain her
the incredible kindness of strangers
the cab driver who gave her a tip ! (unheard of )
the delivery boy who said to call him
if she was ever in need of anything
buying a bunch of singapore orchids
on special at the fruit shop
the return of mango season
whose camaraderie and support is valued

Yes, it is astounding how one demented person and his sycophants are being allowed to run amok. I am weary unto my bones. Thank you for your poem, your hand across the water, and your support.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to be here, in this place and with other people who read and understand our separate worlds and our commonalities. It is a great life-force. I am so glad today you had flowers - Jae
ReplyDeleteI love the sunshine moments so rare these days, especially this one : the delivery boy who said to call him
ReplyDeleteif she was ever in need of anything....
Yep, a first for me.
ReplyDeleteI think that’s how most of us feel, Rall. I can’t imagine anyone being content with the awful things that are going on in the world, or being able to sleep at night. As you say, we must count our blessings, and I love the examples you give, especially blogging with talented poets and holding hands across the ocean.
ReplyDelete"Holding hands across the ocean"!! Reading this poem feels just like that, especially as she counts her blessings and remembers some have it worse.
ReplyDeleteYes there is a dark world and can find so much in the little things in life I love your holding hands across the ocean I join you xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a ray of hope you reveal with your gentle words, Rall. And yes, where would be without the support of loved ones and friends, even those far away in space, but close to us in our hearts?
ReplyDeleteI am sooo glad for those in your second verse and wish there were more.
ReplyDeleteThank you for holding my hand across the ocean.
