WHAT"S GOING ON...FRIDAY WRITINGS # 242..POETS and STORYTELLERS UNITED

kindness

both joy and pain
when you realise that
you only receive it from
strangers
the nearest
not always the dearest
if not for strangers
kindness would indeed be
a stranger

THE SKEPTICS KADDISH # 226

 Tanaga Form

she should have left them sooner
afraid of not having friends
was always a late bloomer
far too quick to make amends

TANKA TUESDAY CHALLENGE NO 79

Emotional Expression

Japanese poets often use color to express feelings rather than to define them explicitly. For instance, a poet might describe a scene with vibrant colors to convey joy or a muted palette to express sadness. This subtlety allows readers to interpret the emotions behind the words, creating a deeper connection to the poetry.

sitting in her drab
cluttered kitchen she day dreams
of a bright red one
that was fifty years ago
she never ever got oneliked red dresses too
red her favourite colour
she waited for him
but he never came for her
didn't love her after all

it took quite a while
to recover but she did
some things don't work out

she now drives a van
a small hand painted red one
she likes all things red
red is a colour to
ward off evil so they say

FRIDAY WRITINGS # 241....POETS and STORY TELLERS UNITED... CHANGE

THINGS HAVE CHANGED

IT'S A DIFFERENT WORLD NOW

child's play
in a different world
no cell phones
no internet
just tea parties
for your dolls

back then
this was everyones dream kitchen
it's still mine

eccentric maiden aunts
owned a budgie canary or cocky
they enjoyed a close relationship
with their birds
developing similarities

birthday cards
christmas cards
they came by mail
a lovely tradition
no longer

before television
the wireless
a magical source
of entertainment
of information
in every household

odds and ends
nothing was wasted
clothes were costly
before cheap imports

diy..make it your self
creativity
the mother of necessity

little girls
used to wear dresses
ribbon bows in their hair
they visited the library
they knew how to read
there were no insane demands
by big tech
on the individual

people knew how to talk
to each other
were not glued
to cell phones
