The Joy Of Poetry

Midweek Motif - PU

when the storms hit hard
when gloom darkens the horizon
someone will write words

words which make you smile
words which make you laugh
soft words of comfort
which soak up tears

sometimes you are thrown
a  bouquet - a gift of
beautifully arranged syntax
like full blown poppies
magically appearing
when you need them most
the little things of no moment
which remain with us

providing a reason
to keep  on giving
to keep on writing

Wordle # 75

MLMM

meantime faculty follow  charcoal rice
orpheus  considerate bleary preserve deafening

orpheus bleary eyed
followed eurydice
at a considerate distance
to  hades

meantime
needing  all his faculties
and wits about him
he stuffed preserves
and charcoal rice in his ears
to block out the deafening wails

they almost made it out
like lot's wife
he looked back
game over
maybe they were related

grandma's brush with death

Brushing Doggie's Teeth
The New Must In Doggie Hygiene

the world is getting madder
by the minute

don't try this with bluey
you'll be minus an arm plus

Honeysuckle Nights

Carpe Diem Haiku Kai

Lilies of the valley
their sweet perfume makes me drowsy
hot summer night
between the silken sheets her warmth
honeysuckle coolness

Chevrefeuille

him in a sarong
her pretending to read
honeysuckle coolness

Oscar Wilde

chiseled luminous feckless superior stain wine
dumb lucid hollow foreign puzzle winner

chiseled features
luminous skin with a
feint air of superiority

some said hollow feckless
dumb when it came to matters of the heart
his reputation stained and destroyed
others said lucid witty brilliant - a winner

exiled to a foreign shore
famous for its wines
not for its wallpaper
"one of us has to go"

converted to catholicism
on his death bed
full of surprises
forever a puzzle

Following In the Footsteps Of Margaret Chula

Margaret Chula ( 1947 - )

in straw mat raincoats
farmers plant rice
their boots croaking

Margaret Chula

in leopard print gum boots
she ventures out slashing
the snakes hide

returning
the borrowed umbrella
splattered with blossom

blood plums
served up as  dessert
feelings shredded with coconut

Road Rage

Heeding Haiku With Chevrefeuille - MLMM

no matter how slow
there's always someone slower
confucious could have said that

no matter how slow
watch out for tortoises even
at a snail's pace

Silence

speak out
speak up
never kneel
to your enemies
purring with deference
to their nastiness
never be silenced

whirled through mona's mind
the way to escape
block the exhaust
turn on the car engine

      tried them all
  the roads to nowhere
  until she realised roads
  don't necessarily lead
    to anywhere  much
        just dead end
               stops

       there must be
       an easier way
         to arrive
         at a place
spread the wings risk it take off
     fly breathe in freedom

You Are So Beautiful To Me

when someone stands for you
when most are against you

when someone declares your worth
when someone is brave enough
to  show friendship and loyalty
at a cost to themselves

this is is a rare find
the black pearl in the oyster
a truly beautiful person
a person to be cherished
