Chatting With A Cool Cocky

my luve is like a cockatoo
a brash and tough old prancer
my luve is like a disco song
a cute but nerdy dancer

as fair art thou, my feathered boy
so deep in luve am i;
but not with you my parrot bird
tis another who makes me fly

till one of us bites the dust dear bird
and the rocks melt with the sun:
i will luve him still, sweet larrikin bird
till  the sands of time have run

Dusty Roses ( 14 Comments )

_--

early twentieth century paintings
gathering dust in antique shops
amidst the stained silver tea trays
delicate with old world charm

great grandmas made tapestry
painted water colours amidst
their potted aspidistras
thick velvet curtains and
heavy ticktock clocks
warming themselves by
log burning open fire places

a fear of light and air
keeps curtains closed and
windows shut
the dying flames glow in the dark
leaving a sprinkle of fine powdered ash
on everything
even the roses

THERE ARE FOURTEEN COMMENTS ON THIS POEM

For The Weekend

the long sobs
of violins
of autumn
hurt my heart
in morose monotone

everything's drab and suffocating
when the clock strikes
i remember the past
and i cry
and here i am
caught up in an ill wind
which is carrying me
willy nilly
like
a dead leaf

looking for love in wine bars

Midweek Motif  - Poets United

the world is laden
with too much suffering
its back is broken

we are like lemmings
racing in the direction
of the precipice

o for the touch
of an angel to quell the scorch
of satan in our souls
to drag us out of the mire
into the light

Book Lover

 Midweek Motif Poets United

if they let me down
they are relegated
to the garage
boxed and marked
destined for the op shop

if they sing to me
make me sigh
spark wonder in me
give me hope
we become close
i fall in love with them
i sleep with all of  them

waiting for the rain

far too rough today
tourists drowned here this summer
in treacherous surf

the snow drops bend their petals
in awe of the spring

japan's holiday
flowers incense everywhere
for spring equinox

our ancestors live
their spirits stay deep within
guiding us with love

the shimmering heat
plays tricks luring him onwards
to cool deep water

the hazy veiled moon
hides her face from the ocean
it's her wedding night

we should stay in bed
