WORDLE # 307 MLMM

Wordle #307

Tomorrow is International Zebra Day, a day to bring awareness to zebras, their living conditions, and how the three remaining types in the wild can be protected. One type, Grèvy’s is endangered, its numbers rapidly lessening due to poaching for their pelts. More than 54% of its total population has been lost.

the striped african zebra

rather obscure

not in the cute cuddly woolly luminary little koala bear class

but nevertheless on the border of extinction

and  worthy of protection

puzzling

who would want a zebra pelt

perhaps some grandiose creep

who would never consider

a synthetic reproduction

or a revolutionary celebrity

who owns a porn bookstore chain

in the still of the evening

listening to opera

on an old phonograph

memories came flooding back

 of another life

of another time

before the war

the old immigrant couple

had survived

but the sadness

etched in their faces was

palpable

heart wrenching

all the time

watched furtively

by their young grandchild

never to be forgotten

one of their favourites

don't lose heart

listen to his advice

it will work out

NEW AUSTRALIANS....Friday Writings PSU # 61 ...Earthweal OLF # 154

AUSTRALIA DAY CONCERT JANUARY 26th 2023

 they arrived with just

the clothes on their backs

happy to be here

chose australia

because it was the furthest

away from war torn europe

imaginable

with no family

 no friends

no english

they taught themselves

by reading a daily newspaper

which became a life long ritual

and listening to ABC radio

as a child  i remember them in their rimless specs

hunched over the newspaper in the evening

deciphering this strange language

or listening to opera on 78 records

 played on an old phonograph

thus planting the seeds of their granddaughter's future career

i adored both of them
this was one of their favourites

once they were friends

now he is blocked

wont go into the details or circumstances

women who have hourglass figures are lucky

woman who have sane friends who don't wander  about aimlessly

brandishing scissors are lucky too

You Bring Me Joy...THE SUNDAY MUSE # 243

you bring me joy you know

you who bathes

with two little rubber ducks

in a big bubble  bath

you who likes steak and chips

in the pub

you who thinks of me

when the storm hits

you who remembers cassettes

hippies  and kombi vans

you who never forgets my birthday

you who are my true friend

she fell for him
hook line and sinker
he was good
a master of seduction
knew all the right buttons
to press
caught her in a vulnerable state

 oh dear

i am yielding

to my one temptation

i know you are thinking it's you

way wrong

found my old cassettes

in a shoe box

thirty years of memories

so much

has happened since then

too much

in reality

 poverty does not bring

a lot of smiles

love is not

six  people plus two pets

sharing one bed  with

baby balanced on a milk crate

getting some sun

in the fresh air

before afternoon tea?

NO

i think not

we don't put the elderly on ice floes

like the inuit used to

we do it differently down under

it's still senecide nevertheless

sneaky senecide

evidently according to statistics

we excel at it

(bowing my head in shame)

“Age-based prejudice is the last acceptable form prejudice,”  says New York University’s Michael North, who studies ageism in the workplace. “ People are making age-based generalisations and stereotypes that you wouldn’t be able to get away with about race or background.”

Biding time as more older people ‘fall off the perch’  is a convenient strategy for governments that regard older, vulnerable Australians as a burden. It’s a workable alternative when you don’t have any ice floes off your coast

these entrancing  wings

of  desperate desire are

making my head spin

like glitter in a snow globe

this longing is

breaking my heart

the distress is not worth it

the cost of this freight is too high

i must find a renewed joy

in something else

laundry liquid cross word puzzles

anything at all

to rid myself of this scourge

THIS WEEK"S WORDS come from " A GULL GOES UP" by Leonie Adams:

 he upset her a lot

this morning

she'll wager

he will feel guilty

to a degree later on

and will be propelled

into promising the spending of a small fortune

on renovations as a peace offering

she's skeptical to see if he will honour his promise

how ironic

that the $80  mirror

which she had admired at the op shop

only the other day

would have been welcome as

an alternative

Triolet

i sat and watched the crowds in the mall

so many using walkers

i wonder why i felt appalled

i sat and watched the crowds in the mall

they all can'r have sufferred from a fall

they were well dressed and good talkers

i sat and watched the crowds in the mall

so many using walkers

i now have an ambition

not so much talking and more walking

before i get a  health condition

i now have an ambition

keep moving that's my decision

no more gawking and baulking

I now have an ambition

not so much talking and more walking
