THE SKEPTICS KADDISH ---W3 # 230

long time gone
the Christmas beetle
another loss due to
environmental degradation

christmas is not the same
without them
flying around on a hot summers night
part of the christmas decorations

you believing
that the angels
decorated them in tinsel green and gold
for the christmas season
you believing
that santa ate that fruit cake
and drank that lemonade
left for him by the fireplace
you believing
that clumsy angels were dropping
and moving furniture
during thunderstorms

t'was another world
magical
a creative childhood
in colour
lucky you

  1. We were lucky to be children back in those days....when the world made sense. I love the idea that the bugs were decorated for Christmas. Reminds me when I was four as we waited for a ferry to take us across the lake. "Where's the fairy?" I asked. He pointed to a boat. "I thought there'd be wings!" I can still see his amused smile.
