I'm perverse enough to prefer the version by Joan Baez(*) and Jeffery Shurtleff, which sadly doesn't seem to have made it onto YouTube. But the recording here is notable for the vocal harmonies. Thank you. (*)BTW . . do you know her torch song for Dastardly Dylan - "Diamonds and Rust"
Rall . . in case you haven't . . . you can hear her live HERE. The commercial recording on her album "Diamonds and Rust" is rather less "in yer face", but v.good. Poor lass! She was a better singer, a better songwriter, a better guitar player and a way, way, WAY better poet then the horrible little rhymster she was unfortunate enough to take up with. (I'm probably alone in the world in having no time for Robert Zimmerman!)
I have never been a Dylan fan either.Prefer the 'Eagles' m'self. This is a shortened version and not the best recording. I play this full blast when I'm tootling along in my van on a country road.
Beautiful harmonies - and all that hair!!Memories indeed. Doc - Buckets of Moonbeams to ya!We all have choices and yes, his deeds were indeed dastardly towards her but love`s a funny old game sometimes.
Now I will have to google and see what that little creep did to her. Doc also is part of the Scottish contingent, Nana. If Derrick does not turn up if you get swept out to sea, Doc will save you...except he will insist that you sign a document promising that you will always use punctuation when writing poetry, otherwise he'll let you drown!
I'm guilty of punctuation flapping around in the wind as well. I wrote a comment on a non poet's blog without punctuation and he thought it was a poem. It made my day , I was so chuffed...I think and express myself in verse unconsciously. This may or may not be a good thing:)

ReplyDeleteLong time since I've heard this. nice birthday music. Enjoy the harmonies. Family-style.
ReplyDeleteDoc, she's all surface and no substance.

Jeepers - like waiting for a bus for ages - then two turn up at once - Lucky Me!Even worth using my apostrophes in all the right places!
ReplyDeleteOy! Purists. It's taken me fifty years to let my commas flap in the wind when they feel like it.
