A Clarian Sonnet
All day long it took to write him the letter
Page after page torn to make it betterShe decided not to send it at all
Scribbled a few lines re Autumn and fall
Why should she tell him everything so soon
He will run away with the dish and spoon
So she thought and thought about what to do
And decided to wait and play it cool
This of course was a terrible mistake
It didn't take long for him to find a date
Anna Cressida Merilee and Jen
He took them all out and became good friends
So now she sits hunched and writes sad pomes
Of love tankas sonnets haiku in tomes

It is so sad to see the consequences of not taking a chance. Even though I am sure it brought about wonderful poems. Isn't it funny how heartbreak brings about such beautiful art?
ReplyDeleteThis is great; I enjoyed it very much. :)
ReplyDeleteA sad tale, perhaps, told sweetly of course without bitterness. Of course, the narrator has their poetry, whose form of love can often transcend that ofvthe flesh.
ReplyDeleteA thought-provoking theme, and not sure whether it actually proves the adage of it being better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Am impressed that you put together a true Clarian sonnet, completely without punctuation, as John Clare would have liked!
