Captious In Unpleasantville

OLN AT DVERSE

i live my life
in preparation
for war

attacks
real or imaginary
will not get past
this door

if people refuse
to live in a sanitised bed of roses
which i think life should be
it said it on the cornflakes packet
that's good enough for me

then i will raise an army
even if it is just me
and slay my imaginary foe
cos i'm simply out of my tree

Three Word Wednesday

feisty...absolutely
she will stab you
with her sapphire blue eyes
if you dare to mention her fuller figure

journalists don't mess with
Christina Hendricks
a consummate actress a regal beauty
over whom my china drools
so...

bring on the butterfly cakes
pommes frites  beurre blanc
buckets of chocolate eclairs
iced petit fours
crates of champagne
the diet goes out the window
woohoo!

Poetry Jam

to be poor and old in australia
is not a place to be
with our latest christian leader
who would prefer the aged lived overseas
they are taking up space and resources
are past there use by date
tony abbot would rather they exit now
and take up residence in space

john and yoko
have a lot to answer for

some oldies
never got over the 60s

the grandchildren
just don't understand this
as a graduation gift

Mid Week Motif...Best Friends

my best friend
said this to me once
and i believed her

in our milieu
there are no ' love you'
declarations at the end
of every phone conversation
or at cheery wave goodbyes

one would never say
something as intimate
as this without meaning it

well so i thought

a beautiful girl
her life destroyed
because
she fell in love
we don't stone them
we kill them

that year

she made a mistake
she drifts from year to year with
no prospects in sight

Poets Pantry - Poets United - - - For The Weekend

 A Love Song

don't hold on
to dreams made of froth
you can't make him love you
it's just not enough

walk away quietly
find someone who cares
someone to hold you
someone not shared

that faraway thought
cannot keep you warm
or give you sweet comfort
in life's blizzards or  storms

so bury your hurt in a shawl
of white jonquils
wipe away those  tears
the sun will shine tomorrow

Is My Lipstick Smudged ?

three word wednesday

i am taking a massive risk here
this could be the ruin of me
the stress and strain of worrying
about my pristine reputation
could be overwhelming

i have no idea what this language is
for all i know it could be
eastern european porn
hebrew hot chat
ruski raunch

or it could be simply
am i a trophy wife?
is my lipstick smudged?
do i look like a poet?
in sanskrit
i will never know

Chasing The Dollar

it's our religion

the dollar brings
acceptance
status
respect
deference
awe
friends
popularity

we spend our lives
dreaming
what we would do with it
how to get it
how it would be

we never have enough
we pigeon hole who has it
don't waste time with those who don't

without it
we would be outcasts
from our milieu
we would be deemed failures

we would be alone
shamed
sentenced
to a world of conversation
with old ladies on buses

carrying designer knock off handbags
bought from the markets
resort to borrowing books from a library
buying from thrift shops
cooking home meals

the phone stops ringing
invitations cease
no one carries shopping to your car anymore
or trips over their feet to serve you
we have to learn what cash is
instead of signing for everything

we are supposed to be devastated
we are now deemed officially poor
not driving the "i'm doing well"
car
nor wearing the " look at me " rags

we are no longer able to afford the
how to be happy and let's practise smiling sessions
with the maharini bullshitterie
once a week

we finally learn to breathe
know the little personal freedom left to us
from our ever controlling big brother world
before being issued with the one time
invitation  from the suitor
who never accepts " no " for an answer
from anyone

For The Weekend

it was taking on a juggernaut
thousands of years old

we thought we could do it
and win
in tandem

we did for a long time
but it was inevitable

you would weaken

and i now too spent
to carry the burden of us
any longer

drop the load into the sea
where we will sink together

La Bicyclette Bleue

Midweek Motif Poets United

La Bicyclette Bleue...Laetitia Casta

it has been over a decade
since i saw this movie series
at your parents house
while they were overseas

it was a starlit sky
in the murky brown of
your family home
grand gloomy damp and loveless
which explained a lot about you

my mother's blue eyes
gazed at me from the screen
and for the first time
i
unsettled
realised
what a beauty she was
something which had not registered
with me before
and says a lot about me as well

Another World

Dverse

i am someone
who spends most of the time
swimming under water
flying under the radar
distancing myself from
a world immersed in greed
cruelty and inequity

demonstrated by the AustralianTreasurer
tonight
who has released a budget which
persecutes the poor and the vulnerable
to the rattle of Prime Minister Abbot's rosary beads
in his expensive suit pocket

my periscope goes up
occasionally
i survey the surrounds
process it - gasp
then withdraw back to
the deep

i have been here far too long
to ever resurface and return
to land

i have revisited only to discover
that i don't belong anywhere
out there any more
what i remembered
what i valued
no longer exists
maybe it only ever existed in books

all my peers
have settled on land
in the spirit of progress
in the interest of survival
but hardly what i call living

i now remain alone
in the spirit of peace
in the quest for truth
isolated
in the kingdom of coral and starfish

in the evolution progess
a few got left behind
another school of thought
might say we are way in front

lots and lots of things
so many wondrous things
there will be never
enough time to
address them all

Chapeau Cherie

Seraphine Louis de Senlis

poor love

those camel squeezers
who gave you a chunk of cheese
as payment for your beautiful work
bathed in the Almighty's glow
will be roasting in the fires of hell
for eternity by now - hopefully

they always suspected
the joy in one second of your precious life
could never be attained or imagined by them
so they destroyed you for it which is their way

you made them feel very uncomfortable Seraphine
Dangereuse Seraphine
Brilliante Seraphine
madame must have loosened her corsets
when you were about
the very idea of you could bring on an attack of the vapours
servants are not supposed to outshine their masters

Chapeau Cherie!

Servant

dverse

shall i compare thee to a summers day ?
hardly
i am a sucked orange- tossed
only the seeds remain-persephone's seeds

my shining inner light
was never noticed
no, i have never received a gift
i am a servant
my luxury is a dry warm bed
for a few hours
i am too tired to dream

Equine Buttocks

3 Word Wednesday

this bum is alleged to be insured
for 21 million dollars

a speed bump that could derail a train
this giant pin cushion has its own stylist
Cornelius, who is paid 3 thousand
dollars a day to maintain it

if it gets sun burn its value will depreciate
there is moral outrage in certain quarters
over this ridiculous and offensive self indulgence

a hue of hypocrisy exists about it all
because without public interest and media hype
no one would have ever heard of kim kardashian

sigh!  a sad indictment of  the ordinary mind
although I do know at least two of my male commenters
who would only  be too happy to do work experience
with Cornelius as assistant bum stylists to the stars

Mothers Day

poetry jam: midweek motif poets united

it's mother's day on sunday
another lovely lunch
And
although i am a mother
i'm still a little child
i miss those arms about me
when blue and feeling down
a cup of tea and bikkies
a big hug and kiss
to wipe away my tears
always a parcel of goodies
to take home and a note
squeezed into my palm
'buy something nice to cheer yourself up darling'
i will always be Mummy's girl
i miss her

I Talk To The Trees

dverse

if you want to keep a secret
don't tell it to the trees

the whispering grass tells
them everything and they
tell the birds and bees

they worry about chain saws
so they tell everything they know

cos they aint going to be around
long enough to put on a spectacular show.

To the lonely sea and the sky

Persephone

A Shakespearean Sonnet for dverse

her hair flowed freely as she did her dance
beneath the clouds in dainty seamless grace
admired by smitten swains her form enhanced
with golden ringlets blowing in her face
she drove them mostly mad unto distraction
her ink blue eyes could pierce a milk white heart
to purple hue love arrows shot in  action
from  cupid's bow frieze drawn and poised in art
the slate grey sky did split the earth and rumble
a gnarled black hand grabbed tight and pulled her down
to darkness had-es bleak with rolling tumble
where no bird lived in realm of moans and frown
she ate the seeds and acted out of kindness
not knowing that she'd sealed her fate with blindness

Let's Do French For The Weekend..Woot !

Oh I wish I had found this before, instead of trying to get the lyrics from just the song,Grrrr!

Elle me dit
She tells me
Ecris une chanson contente
Write a happy song
Pas une chanson deprimante
Not a depressing song
Un chanson que tout le monde aime
A song that everyone likes

Elle me dit
She tells me
Tu deviendras un milliardaire
You'll become a billionaire
T'auras  do quoi etre fier
You will be proud of yourself
Ne finis pas comme ton pere
Don't end up like your father

Elle me dit
She tells me
Ne t'en fermes pas dans ta chambre
Don't lock your self in your room
Dis-moi  c'est quoi ton probleme
Tell me what is your problem
Vas-y secoue- toi et danse
Come on get moving and dance

Elle me dit
She tells me
Quest -ce que t'as t'as l'air coince
What's up you seem very uptight
Tu es defonce ou t'es gai
Are you high or are you gay
Tu finiras comme ton frere
You will end up like your brother

Elle me dit
She tells me

CHORUS
Fais ce que tu veux, tant pis
Do what you want, I don't care
Un jour tu comprendras
One day you will understand
Un jour tu t'en voudras
One day you'll blame yourself

Sors un peu de ta bulle
Pop out of your little bubble
On dirait que t'amait ca
Looks like you enjoy it

Pourquoi tu gaches ta vie
Why are you wasting your life
Danse Danse Danse
elle me dit
Danse Danse Danse

Elle me dit
She tells me

Fais comme les autres garcons
Behave like other boys
Va taper dans un ballon
Go kick a ball around
Tu deviendras populaire
You will be popular

El me dit
She tells me
Qu'est -ce que tu fous internet
Why are mucking around on the internet
Ca va pas bien dans sa tete
You're not right in the head
Regards le temps que tu perds
Look at the time you're wasting
Pourquoi tu te plains tout le temps
Why do you complain all the time
On dirait que t'as huit ans
You seem like an eight year old
C'est pas comme ca que tu vas me plaire
That's not how you are going to please me

Elle me dit
she tells me
Un jour je sera plus la
One day I'll be gone
Mais c'est quand elle me dit ca
But that's when she tells me this
Elle me dit

Qu'elle me dit un truc que j'aime
She tells me something that I like

Elle me dit
she tells me
c'est ta vie
it's your life

CHORUS
Tu fais n'importe quoi
You're messing around
On dira
We will say
Pourquoi tu gaches ta vie
Why are you wasting your life
Danse Danse Danse Danse

Elle me dit
she tells me
T'as pas encore des cheveux blancs
You don't have white hair yet
Mais   trente ans
Faudrait que tu te reveiller
You'd better wake up
Tu es toujours un enfant
You are still a child
Tu ne seras jamais grand
You will never grow up
Et moi je suis deja vieille
Me I'm already old
Regarde un peu tes amis
Take a look at your friends
Qu'est-ce qu'ils vont faire
de leur vie
What are they going to do with their lives
Y'a de quoi se foutu en l'air
That's something really scary
Oui un jour tu me tueras
Yes one day you will be the death of me

to be cont.
maybe one day
