OLN AT DVERSE
i live my life
in preparation
for war
attacks
real or imaginary
will not get past
this door
if people refuse
to live in a sanitised bed of roses
which i think life should be
it said it on the cornflakes packet
that's good enough for me
then i will raise an army
even if it is just me
and slay my imaginary foe
cos i'm simply out of my tree
Don't we all?
ReplyDeleteAt war with life at war with the world! Life can be painful but one has to resolve it oneself alone. None is there to help! It is true! Wonderful thoughts Rallentanda!
ReplyDeleteHank
Curiously I read this differently. Nations have armies to show their strength to avert attack. If none comes they must go abroad to get some practice and it doesn't matter whether they win or not but at least they gained experience.
ReplyDeleteActually, I relate to Frootloops more than Cornflakes.
ReplyDeleteThanks !
DeleteOf course there are also the Honey Smacks.
DeleteYou really must stop thinking about Dr Nippelpinzer!
DeleteThat would be Cheerios.
DeleteThat would be Goodbye Madam George.
DeleteYes the world does seem run by loonies . . .
ReplyDeleteSeriously Sun Tsu's "Art of War" writes of the enemy within and strategy's one must employ to defeat it. Your enemy yourself is the hardest to defeat because it knows you intimately and can anticipate your every move. It is also the enemy that will do you the most harm.
good luck and in the imaginary words of the imagined throngs infamously spoken (i think) . . . "make war not love"
Ermm....this is not a poem about me. I don't eat cornflakes and I loaned Cosmo my ancient Greek warrior outfit ages ago which he has never returned.
ReplyDeleteI find it useful at the Parent Teacher nights.
DeleteBet you they give you a hard time when you turn up to work looking like that. In other countries you might not get away with it!
DeleteThe first time was the worst. Nothing like a smack in the ear with a Greek sword to earn respect.
DeleteOh absolutely...I always carry one, secreted under my voluminous skirt!
DeleteI enjoyed this ....
ReplyDeleteI am on Ebay as I type, attempting to acquire a warriors outfit. This is not easy given my dimensions.
Dimensions? You told me you were an Adonis.
DeleteOMG that's Greek, what an error I've made, I thought it was a Roman Centurian . . . -or-
ReplyDeleteMaybe Cosmo didn't return it because he wore it to a Toga Party at the Frat house and got lynched . . .
-and-
sorry if you thought I was referring to first person you, I was thinking more along the lines of the individual the human enemy within in a sort of fungible sense as I perceived by the way you wrote it. :):):)
Nah Cosmo is a giant strapping Aussie bloke who can look after himself. We don't have Frat houses down here...too sissy for us:)
ReplyDeleteNo I'm just a poor disproportioned Dodo bird. My heart is what counts. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
ReplyDelete(Strictly between thee and me, I am rather spectacular - "easy on the eye" I believe is the expression)
ah it is sad to be captured in a mood and mindset like that.. i rather have peace and fight for it
ReplyDeleteThis post is such a great example of the power of 'voice'---the rhythm and words you have chosen add to this sense of voice in a way that is palpable to the reader. I really enjoyed reading this.
ReplyDeleteThanks CC. I enjoyed writing this one.
ReplyDeleteSometimes life is like that ~ I have learned to be more flexible nowadays ~
ReplyDeleteHey, I enjoyed the post and comments too ~ Have a good weekend ~
Oh how sad to be trapped in such a rigid mindset and believe that it is absolutely fine, and not even be curious about the alternative! As CC wrote, the voice in this piece comes shining through - it was really good fun to read (despite the worries that the world is apparently run by such scarily, blinkered people).
ReplyDeleteA really fun piece
ReplyDeleteA fresh and striking write -gald I stopped by... Regards Scott
ReplyDeleteI can see why you are so enamored of funny people, being one yourself :) ~
ReplyDeleteAussies as a species generally loathe people who take themselves too seriously. It is highly discouraged down here! We are behind the rest of the world in political correctness ...long may it stay that way!
