January King Tides

vivid dreams
brought on by king tide waves
same  thing every year

Kitchen Hand

Susan's Mid Week Motif

mr singh was very exact
drove mrs singh crazy
with his measuring tack

oh goodness ravi
we'll be here all night
put away the compass
or i'll go on strike

she huffed and puffed
and said OK
if you don't stop now
I'll be up and away

so in the kitchen
now smiling alone
mr singh chopped onions
in his sweet little home

diamonds and rounds
in small structured shapes
if only he  remembered
where his wife put the plates

Internet Romance

How can I tell her we are both just stencils !

oh darling jane
will our love survive
when it starts to rain
and the paint's not dry

we'll both end up
as a smear on a wall
and then you'll discover
i wasn't tall after all

Sunday Painter

three word wednesday

a very nice water colour
demonstrating talent
no doubt someone
who had a sense
of colour and design
a certain sensitivity

this may come as a surprise
the artist was one of the
most powerful depraved
cold mass murderers
in the history of the world

loves dogs and art
the world's great mass murderer
two sides of the coin

Heeding Haiku With HA

Shades Of Kerouac

mindlovemisery's menagerie

his eyes on fire
over the moon to see her again
she'd forgotten his name

looking out the window
on a moonlit night
he watches the break - in

she hugs her pillow
eyes shut tight she prays
to forget him

the clink of ice cubes

John Galliano - Haute Couture

high priest and bad boy of fashion
amicable when sober

banished from the couture houses
for unrefined
politically incorrect racist comments
spewed
whilst
rolling drunk in a cafe

his couture genius
should stand on its own merits

his gowns - art pieces
of the first rank

influenced by history
post modernism fantasy
theatre and romance

shades of the french revolution
cum oriental  flour sacks
and quilted dressing gowns
brilliant
sometimes frivolous

gowns of sheer poetry
theatre and floating fantasy
stuff that little girls'
(and big girl's )
dreams are made of

if you're a girly girl

i want this one

butterflies on my back
caressing my skin
spilling out on to my dress

Home Guard

pencil at the ready
our french farmer is prepared
for anything

he'd like to play
noughts and crosses in the sky
just beyond his reach
will throw his pencil for
the dogs to catch and fetch

Reluctant Spouse

he ran away
whoosh like speeding traffic
a change of heart

bees buzzing
around the honey pot
sticky love

mosquitoes high pitched buzz
in my ears all night long

Call Me Judas

it was a long fight
to get free health for all
in this country

to give the poor access
to health care has to be
fundamentally Christian

tony abbott has managed
to dismantle it
in his first term of office

this ruthless bully boy
posing as a
modest genuine ocker
knockabout distracted boofhead

calls himself a Catholic

anyone can call themselves anything
being one is a different matter

if he were ever to read
the precepts of Catholicism
he would know that his actions
make him about as Catholic
as osama bin laden's dead arse

" Verily I say unto you
For what you do unto the least
of my brethren you do unto me "

Matthew 25: 40

And Did Those Feet

Lord Howe Island

murdering french cartoonists and jewish shoppers
is not a nice present for Jesus
especially around the time of his birthday

and did those feet in ancient times
walk upon England's mountains green?

unlikely and certainly not today
or anywhere else on earth

with the possible exception of
lord howe island

no violence no crime few people
and ecologically sound

the messiah might consider this place
for the second coming
he will need to be quick

man made global warming will sink it soonish
rather than laterish

"Man has lost the capacity to foresee and forestall. He will end by destroying the earth."
Albert Schweitzer

Look Around

I have a bad habit of poking things in between books. Just found this. Have not played it for about 20 years. Found letters poems cds cards in my tidy up....so much fodder for writing. Bitter sweet memories and a lot of joyful times....it was a time of freedom  and relative innocence without terrorism. I want it back !

in the blue study
dancing with my maracas
i remember joy

a barefoot dancer
that's me - put the music on
i'm  off and away
my mother and grandmother
were exactly the same too

Wordle

fade perversity desticate padlock currant hungry affinity glamour jagged parrallel scarecrow ditch

ditch the scarecrow look
jagged haircuts and padlock bracelets
are passe
you may have an affinity with glamour
but you are looking very much like
an emaciated faded rose these days

it is perversity being hungry all the time
just eating a few currants  for lunch
working out on the parallel bars at the gym
to keep  stick insect slim

develop a few rubenesque curves
eat spicy wog tucker
lots of pasta italiano
and call yourself sophia

TRY

if you love her
try a little tenderness
make her happy

try to understand
that four million people
may have a point

never give up
try try again  -  that makes you
a winner, a mensch

Papillon

collage by Rall

distraught at the loss
of her missing butterfly
right in front of her

A Snapshot Of Happiness

i have not made
lemon barley cordial ice blocks for years
i had forgotten about these thirst quenchers
marvellous frozen poles of sweet stickiness

i sit here in a singlet and raggedy knickers
in the  garden slurping listening to the cicadas
staring into the trees
i feel about ten years old

the bees buzz about
her long  plaits a sticky magnet
for sugar addicted bugs
she drenches herself with a hose
dries out in minutes

Seven

there is only room for seven
who lives who dies?
who decides?

seven angels blasted the trumpets
the seventh seal was opened
there was nothing
God laughs
says wait 30 minutes
sends
a message
' Hey Lighten Up Lambs  ' !

seven husbands
the trick - no names
call  everyone 'darling'

at seven
being trained in the role
of  domestic serfdom

no way
not seven- not even one
cold showers for all of you

when i was seven
i was bookish and different
nothing has changed

been blogging poems
for seven years
maybe time to bow out
