yes
tis a grievous sin
to harm someone
who only gives joy and causes
no hurt to anyone
yes
tis a cryin' shame
that that little girl
has no idea why
a million women
would swap places
with her

Day 29
Enjambment let me not pretend
i didn't see the signs
just too awful a truth
to face so i pushed it aside
under the mat and removed
it from my thoughts
and when the inevitable happened
it came as a shock but not really a surprise
so a word of advice
listen to what you know
in spite of majority opinion telling you
you are wrong
you will pay dearly if you don't
facing truth is painful
not facing truth is even worse

Day 30
poetry in the time of
the 21st century plague
comes as a welcome respite
from all the bad news
a poem a day
is not like the apple a day
keeping the doctor away
the virus is knocking at the door
bowling us out like skittles in a row
we don't hear bombs
the buildings are in tact
we still drink our morning coffee
and complain that sugar bananas are scarce
so it's hard to process this idea
that we are at war
a war that it is going to be hard to win
and won without a single gunshot
to my readers
i wish you the best of luck
stay safe and if i have given you
a glimmer of hope a laugh or smile
or a soupcon of food for thought
then my mission is accomplished
on this mortal coil
Chin up possums!
where has she gone wrong
flat out as usual
barely has a minute to herself
cooking
cleaning
washing
paying bills
phone calls
food shopping
bills
did i say bills
attempts at
hair dressing
grooming
banking
petrol
the car needs a wash
the dehumidifier has to be cleaned
too much to remember

whip up some poems
one per day for april
her poems have stretched out
falling asleep on the computer
lucky them
plants
she forgot to water the plants
she forgot to go for a walk
she forgot to look at the sky
she forgot to go to the pharmacist
she forgot to save her own life
who does all this stuff
who does this stuff
for everyone else
so
the others can be bored
so
they can be at loose ends
a slave i suppose
she dreams of being bored
she dreams of having time
her dream
social isolation
social distancing
it's never going to happen

canopy frost despair omen sensual
wander dawn blood wistful features
lightly pity guts crocus blue
spring change dark edge mouth
he was a blood brother
a wanderer
born under a canopy of despair
a dark beauty with striking features
and a sensual mouth
a sensitive soul who
liked to lightly finger the crocus flowers
on a frosty dawn walk
watch the pink sky change to blue
read omens in cloud formations
wistful at times
but when the vulnerable
were targeted
he would spring like a panther
into defensive action
and without pity
wear the opponent's guts for garters
something tells me
my life
will never be like this again
hieronymous bosch
will be lurking everywhere
his garden of earthly delights
from the nightmare zone
will even settle amongst the gum trees
i hope i'm wrong
Day 7
Justice Mark Weinberg he had nothing to gain
and a lot to lose
by opposing
his eminent colleagues' judgement
nevertheless
he did not concur
his innate sense of justice truth
and respect for the rule of law
in spite of the baying for blood
by the crowd
( hmm sounds familiar
same time of year as well)
gave him no choice but to say
NOT GUILTY
this man must be acquitted
he did not wash his hands
like Pontuis Pilate
he wrote a brilliant unarguable
200 page judgement instead
which all the judges of the High Court
upheld unanimously
and so it came to pass
during holy week
the prince of the church
who had been languishing in prison
(maximum security for the most dangerous
criminals in the country)
for more than a year
had his ankle bracelets removed
and returned home today
to recuperate in a carmelite convent
DEO GRATIAS !
hope those nuns know how to
whip up a juicy steak and chips served with a cold beer
oh well
sure it will be better than prison fare
Full statement from Cardinal George Pell
I have consistently maintained my innocence while suffering from a serious injustice.
This has been remedied today with the High Court’s unanimous decision.
I look forward to reading the Judgment and reasons for the decision in detail.
I hold no ill will toward my accuser, I do not want my acquittal to add to the hurt and bitterness so many feel; there is certainly hurt and bitterness enough.
However my trial was not a referendum on the Catholic Church; nor a referendum on how Church authorities in Australia dealt with the crime of paedophilia in the Church. The point was whether I had committed these awful crimes, and I did not.
The only basis for long term healing is truth and the only basis for justice is truth, because justice means truth for all.
A special thanks for all the prayers and thousands of letters of support.
I want to thank in particular my family for their love and support and what they had to go through; my small team of advisors; those who spoke up for me and suffered as a result; and all my friends and supporters here and overseas.
Also my deepest thanks and gratitude to my entire legal team for their unwavering resolve to see justice prevail, to throw light on manufactured obscurity and to reveal the truth.
Finally, I am aware of the current health crisis. I am praying for all those affected and our medical frontline personnel.

Easter Sunday
memories
of church bells
of easter eggs
of sunshine
of a big boozy lunch
but not this year
Happy Easter everyone
wherever you are
feel free to overdose

good morning to you

get there in the end
hit the ground at the same time
nowadays the judge does not
accept scientific experiments
as an excuse
drop canon balls into the traffic
from the overpass
and you go to prison

april usually wears a wattle yellow skirt
making an entrance bathed in sunshine
swinging her russet silk purse
this year she arrived in a mask and latex gloves
everyone is cowering under the stones

with luck the bunnies might be back next year
along with church bells choirs and palm fronds
