  3. Lovely reiterations of O.

As an unmusical youngster, not really understanding what I was hearing, I thought that was a silly song about a silly woman. (Well, I was tone-deaf, so for me the words predominated over the music.) I'm glad that for you it was a much-needed solace.

  4. I actually ended up singing this one. And my tone might've been too melancholic--either that, or I just have a horrible voice--because my husband ran to the room to make sure I was okay, lol!

"O no, William, no! It was just a song with a bounty of O's!"

  5. "Oh! No John" brought back a a few memories. However sleeping at midnight is better than waking at 3am!

  6. I love the childlike innocence in your poem ... the choir music is classic and quite beautiful. I have saved the video. (music got me thru much in childhood as well)

  7. I had never heard of O No John before. An unusual one for children to sing. Yes, music gets us through things. I was listening to the songs of my teens just a few days ago.

  8. I remember that song, Rall, and ‘Oh for the wings of a dove’! We sang them at school too. I loved singing in a choir and did so until a couple of years ago when I lost my singing voice due to damaged vocal cords. I also cling to music in sad times – a part of life indeed. I love all the 'O' sounds!
