it's wednesday

 this is what i know

it is miraculous

that i have lasted this long

i am totally unsuited

to reality and real life

 

this is what i know

there are good kind strangers

out there

with lovely hearts

whom ive encountered lately

when i most needed to

this is what i know

( not much really )

cats are beautiful

a sweet orange is delicious

music is wonderful

these cool looking kids

are super talented

bone dry  country properties

scorching in sunshine

 much better to stay indoors

in an air con room eating

ice cream watching the tennis

 

 

 

some dark clouds appear 

summer showers predicted

respite from the cruel heat

 they never last very long

just enough to tease the birds

and encourage mosquitoes

some of us are still doing it

no one knows how

it had some moments

but humans ruined it all

by destroying everything

it's the nature of the beast

causing so much suffering

if the lion will ever lie down

they were magic to me

my first heels at fifteen

in red too

carefully wrapped in tissue paper

in a  shoe box 

I would look at them lovingly before sleep

a birthday present I will never forget

even half a century later

not sure why

but it makes me a little sad

we used to play this in the junior school band

 me on the bass drum

it was fun 

 did not realise the significance of the march at the time

she was a great flirt

one day she decided to change

which was all the rage

got herself a phd

settled down to study

something apart from

she had lost her rizz

but didn't care

she preferred

champagne with fizz

and wind swept hair

What could be more lovely than a Sydney Summer....secluded harbour beaches , swimming, boats, night ferry rides.Sydney rock oysters, avocados ,mangoes and  chilled white wine , A friend once told me that he was pleased he did not live here because he would never get any work done.

a summer delight

would say i had a charmed life 

thanks to my guardian angel

who must have worked flat out 

looking after me

in my advernturous youth

seen too many humphrey bogart movies

 thought deck class was deck chairs tea and cushions 

not so on a steamer crossing the equator

 

when i think on it now

i can hardly believe 

i did any of it

wake in fright

fools rush in where angels fear to tread
