a ski trip
fun for some
i would choose a camel ride
in the sahara
winter
a bleak cold time
sweltering heat welcome
summer can't come soon enough bring
it on
the boring home life
of a domestic goddess
is luxury
too many suffering souls
in this cruel world
would swap places
in a a heartbeat
we can begin to live differently
by doing small things
like
thinking how lucky we are
to have dishes to wash
to have food to plan a meal
to appreciate what we have
as my nan used to say
always look behind you
there are so many who are far worse off

he could walk
before the damn stroke
he could drive
he could speak
now he is a sad shadow
of his former self
i watch him
wither on the vine
day by day
heartbreaking
must keep strong to care for this
precious dear person
what matters is
he is still with me
that's what counts
he's still here
please God help him recover
your prayers are welcome
more winter showers
never ending rain and floods
where is the sunshine
withering winds whip
up a frenzy in the waves
all the beaches closed
this passing year comes
from dante's hell no sign of
freezing over soon
without
the crocodiles
poisonous jelly fish
and ferocious heat it could be
quite good

As soon as I saw this
in the National Art Gallery London
I used to go and visit him
all the time
" Why couldn't I find a guy
with that intensity and sensitivity?"
I still remember exactly where he was.
After a while I grew fickle and forgot all about him
Until I saw him again years later
In a Hong Kong bar
"My God...there's the man with the quilted sleeve"

cocktails by the pool

even if they have full time jobs

weekends
time to clean up
unpaid household drudges
no me time for these poor ladies
ever
a solution
some marry for money
some marry for the true love thing
perhaps
who knows
gals are complex
freely choosing slavery
they must have a reason
for this
men like this are
hard to find i suspect
happily ever after stuff
