poetry jam: poets united
i have finally escaped
the stormy weather
which has been dogging
the city for months
spring flicked the switch today
and the wattles dazzle yellow
against blue in the big outback sky
jeans and flannel shirts
stand still like soldiers armed
with clothes props
on the line stretched between the olive trees
i have been watching
the black chinned honey eater
gorging herself all afternoon
on the giant agave bloom
stopping only to sing a few notes
to me
