summer has returned of late

when i was thirteen
because all the other girls

except for me
(my mother thought Elvis was uncouth )
no it wasn't just a cup of tea
it was love
i was loved
i was blessed
and i didn't realise it
until later on when
i came across so many
throughout my life
who were not
you will always remain in my heart

there's sadness about
a whiff of autumn in the air
summer is over
time to bring out the brolly
sudden rain showers forecast
lent is always sad
time of fasting and penance
just ate chocolate
succumbing to temptation
something i'm good at
