Françoise HARDY 1944 - 1924...Friday Writings # 131

Francoise

 she's gone

 memories

 come flooding back

a life time ago now

a terrible sadness takes a grip

 our little group

will follow suit shortly

one has left already

tis  a reminder of a time

 when we young convent gals

stuck fast at the bottom of the world

determined to excel in French

 gain language scholarships

move to Paris

 marry French men

alain delon look alikes

eat croissant for breakfast every day

didn't quite work out that way

two of us married English men

we all went our separate ways

but i do know this

that all of that group of

giggling gerties

yet serious academically

will be affected by Francois Hardy's  passing

she meant so much to us

 merci ma cherie

What's Going On....Keepsake

 a bracelet

that has not left my wrist

for many years

a keepsake

of you

i know it has a story

but never asked

you never told

best left with the other family secrets

no one wants to speak of

Tanka Tuesday 11/6/24

perisher white out

 the ski bunnies are happy

chacun a son gout

i would prefer to bask in

winter sunshine on a beach

thank goodness for cats
open fires crumpets and
 hot sweet chocolate
a great comfort in the cold
especially cuddly cats

What's Going on.....BOOKS...Friday Writings # 130 Poets and Story Tellers United

"I can live alone, if self-respect, and circumstances require me so to do. I need not sell my soul to buy

bliss.

I have an inward treasure born within  me, which can keep me alive if all extraneous delights should

be withheld, or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give."

—Charlotte Bronte

it took so long
too long
to internalise
this piece of wisdom
to truly understand it
to accept it
books
the conveyors of truth
books
friends who don't disappoint
books
comfort in hard times
