Saturday
Lying on a banana lounge
in the late afternoon
after hours of macheting and mulching
looking up at a blue blue sky
fringed by purple jacaranda
and large red chinese umbrellas
offset with green foliage
sipping a shandy
flopped in a sarong
listening to the feint hum of cicadas
watching a spider spin its web
in the stillness of the heat
I was happier than I have been for a long time
How could I be this lucky
Sunday
Rain storm and wind
A tree crashes on to the fence
the goats have got into the garden
I left the washing out overnight
The overflow pipe fell off the tank
A bright green frog sits in the toilet
pretending to be invisible
La nina
La nina
La nina
Nasty bitch
You've followed me here
How could I be this unlucky
How quickly luck can change from good to bad! That darned frog!
ReplyDeleteFrog, eh?
ReplyDeleteHad a rat once. Makes you cautious.
I never did like Sundays.
Sundays always have a tinge of sadness probably associated with going back to work or school
ReplyDelete'Gloomy Sunday' a hungarian song in the 30s was said to have caused so may suicides that it was banned on the radio. This is the type of trivia
that my aging mind retains rather than something that could be actually useful:)
La Nina is a climate phenomenon and a sister to El Nino . El Nino is drought and La Nina is endless rain, floods and storms. For 20 years I lived in a La Nina area and moved three years ago to a El Nino area which became a La Nina area as soon I got here! The farmers are pleased but I am not!If anyone needs rain in a drought stricken area, for a very large amount of money I will bring La Nina with me!
