Derrick has brightened up our lives on a weekly basis with his humour, generous comments, kindness, charm, good taste, musical knowledge, travel photos and delightful poetry. As I am first and foremost a musician I find it easier to express my feelings in music rather than in words at his decision to leave the poetry blogosphere. You will be very much missed Derrick.
Beautiful, Rall. Thank you very much indeed. Bye!
ReplyDeleteDerrick, I will miss you!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunate news to hear! :(
ReplyDeletefrom Therese L. Broderick -- Well wishes for your future adventures, Derrick! It was a privilege to get to know you in cyberspace. Feel free to re-connect with me at any time. Au Revoir.
ReplyDeletewow, why?
ReplyDeleteDerrick, tickled by your participation aT POTLUCK A FEW WEEKS AGO...
WILL MISS YOU INDEED.
take good care.
Derrick, you'll be missed the mostest! I too have a business to look after but I find creativity improves all aspects of my life. Do plan to come back. I do find visiting blogs time consuming and I'm not half conscientious like you. Maybe that's why you decided to opt out. Because you're too conscientious. I've thought about stopping too but decided it is a good thing and I should keep to some level of activity. Probably you've "decided". But hope you do drop by and say hello sometimes. Pretty please.
ReplyDeleteRall,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for thinking of me and for giving me this chance to say goodbye.
Derrick,
I am sad, so sad to hear that you will be leaving our precious blogging world. I so much cherish the connection we've made and feel sad that I won't be able to pop on over to Scotland for a quick visit. I will miss your wit, your humor, the way you challenge me, the gentle convince me to try new things, and your way with words... Oh. I will miss your way with words. Take care, my friend. You will be missed.
If you are ever in Missouri...
Derrick, when I first ventured under the Big Tent, you were the first to consistently and positively encourage me with your kind comments and attentiveness. You are lovely, and I do hope this will be a hiatus and not a good bye.
ReplyDeleteMust find a way to fill that Derrick gap..Oh forget it..can't be done!!
ReplyDeleteA pleasure to know you...
So Blogland's to lose your smiling face;
ReplyDeletewho will it find to take your place,
with a rhyme, a photo or information
in a Derrick-less Blogland nation?
Thank you for the opportunity, Rall, to say 'Goodbye' to Derrick. You chose a most beautiful aria that I'm sure he would appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI will miss Derrick and hope that one day we will see him return. Bye Derrick, all the best! xa
Rallentanda, thank you for offering us the space here to pay homage to a lovely blogging legend, that is Derrick of Melrose Musings - I feel really sad that he has decided to give up, while I wholly understand the demands that take Derrick away.
ReplyDeleteHis departure to pastures new is a loss to us.
May I express my love and thanks for sharing parts of his life and journey with us, and the fact that he is such a wonderful, talented, beautiful man and well-travelled muso...
Thank you, Rallentanda.
Toodles, Derrick - You'll never really get away from us, you know?! Much love and thanks, dear Sir! xxx
Best to Derrick, a very talented writer, a gentleman and a scholar, always kind and generous with comments.
ReplyDeleteRallentanda, it's a nice idea to say goodbye to Derrick by this gathering of people who liked his poems, pictures he spoke about and the kindness he was showing.
ReplyDeleteDerrick, don't forget about those endings being beginnings in disguise... ;-)
Up with the sparrows today
ReplyDeleteI listen to the soft bird chorus
outside
A dog barks in the distance
The house is quiet
except for the humming fridge
A cool breeze has already made herself
at home inside
I make tea in the sweet blue kitchen
then head off for a visit
part of my little happiness ritual
And then I remember
Dark curtains fall
the birds stop singing
My heart turns over
The tea tastes of salt
Without wishing to sound like an obit . . . Derrick is a gentleman.
ReplyDeleteWell it is a type of death really. The only way we know each other is through communication on our blogs.I use to have breakfast with Derrick almost every morning. Don't you start getting ideas about leaving Footsie or I'll come over to Scotland and box your ears. That is after I finish boxing Derricks's:)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you're leaving us Derrick. I hope you have a GREAT PLAN in mind.
ReplyDeleteJane
A BIG THANK YOU to each and all of you for such lovely comments, it is touching. And especially to you, Rall for organising this get together - but you must mark your sugar and salt containers more clearly!
ReplyDeleteYep, will miss the humour. Bye Darlin'!
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed this opportunity to say goodbye to Derrick, Rall, but I did post a note for him on his blog and he responded. I was expecting that you would do a special tribute to him as well. I will miss your bantering back and forth with Derrick on poem posting days. The comments were so much fun. Such joy and warmth! He was a wonderful blogging friend I looked forward to visiting each morning, like you. He has such a unique view of the world. Thank you for stopping by my blog and inviting me to post here. =D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for inviting me to post here and I apologize if I am late. I did leave a note for Derrick on his blog already. He responded on my blog. I will miss the banter that went on between you and Derrick on poem posting days. You both made me laugh out loud with the cheeky comments you would post. It was so much fun! =D I will miss Derrick very much indeed! Like you, my first morning visit was always Melrose Musings, with breakfast. (hugs) It's difficult to say goodbye. This forum was perfect and I loved your musical selection.
