My Sweet Bird...3WW

they said he went beyond the pale
my naughty little bird
they said he doused the blog in ale
that naughty little bird
so i emailed him a letter
to tell him they were wrong
to keep his pecker up
show the world that he is strong
they were hailing him one day
ditching him before long
wev'e all read that famous story
written  in  times before
and now that Easter's coming
it will be reinforced some more

  1. Thanks Sheilagh . This was written for a blog friend of mine who has been expelled from a blog because he was too innovative and popular. I would like to aassure him that the first experience is the worst but after two it is water off a duck's back!

  2. Writing is great when you write the truth readers think it is fiction and when you lie they believe every word. As you say Easter is a good time to reassess, eat chocolate, then forget it all again.

  3. Writing is great all the time. Oh- we could have a long discussion about this one. There should be no lies in poetry...A poet should respect his audience. Recounting someone else's experiences as your own or changing a sequence of events is poetic license ( an imaginative truth in its own right.)People who read poetry always assume too much. One has to be discerning to read between and underneath the lines.

  4. What i love about poetry is how you can say one thing differently and from different perspectives, putting yourself into others ideas and stretching yourself. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. But that's the joy of it. This poem works brilliantly and it conveys the hidden message really well. I enjoyed it
