Haiku Heaven 4

prompt word " Russia"

poetry jam

can't see the magic?
then you are dead already
just not plot bound yet:)

Russians rule the ice
weaving and gliding - sheer joy
to watch these dancers

he so elegant
a tall man in uniform
i want to be her

speed and triple jumps
inflamed hot passion on ice
waltz time wonderment

poets united

watch out for this guy
he may be a giggle now
might sober up later on

history of sorrow
russia is always in pain
things will change one day

not easy for them
ex k.g.b commissar
unopposed leader

three word wednesday

no vodka for me
i have to get into shape
for cossack dancing

insatiable
my appetite for vodka
drives me quite feral

alcohol abuse
is rampant throughout russia
lives ripped into shreds

cool Russian soldiers
love wild cossack dancing for
exercise and fun

russian cops groovin'
aussie cop's choir is non
existent-pity!

audience looks bored
western decadence does not
do it for ruskis

  3. Well, Russians did not totally rule the ice. I was very proud of the American couple who did so well with ice dancing.

  4. Very nice. I am also a fan of the haiku. They've been coming to me more slowly though.

  5. Ah no...the Russians took the "pairs" --- the Americans THIS YEAR in Sochi own the Gold in dance - the Russians got Bronze but imho it should have gone to the French. Yes...this year it's all about ice dancing and I'm the girl who should know. Kudos on your olympic poems...all well done!

  6. 'Inflamed hot passion on ice'. Sizzling good poetry. Somehow i've always been fascinated by Russian ballerinas, gymnasts and acrobats. They're so good at what they do. I think it's because of a strong ballet base that they're so elegant.

  7. russia is to weird
    they write with backwards letters
    where's that on keyboard

    russia rules the ice

  9. Yes, I too enjoy the skill and aesthetics of ice skating. For some reason, as yet unknown to me, it is the women I prefer watching.

  10. Love all the ice skating! "I want to be her" - ditto

  11. Layered, thoughtful, complex and, the contrast – pinned against “sheer joy” – quite sad. Well penned.

  14. Each of your poems addresses leaders in some way. I too wonder about Putin. I enjoy the wit in all your verses.

  15. Russia has a rich culture but Putin's Russia does not appeal to me.

  16. Yes they a rich culture and certainly have the x factor when it comes to the expressive arts, a consequence of centuries of repression and suffering.

  17. Russian culture is engaging..though of course the winter olympics has caused a political stir..anyone whose propaganda photos look like homo-erotica shouldn't be throwing the stones too far.. go pussy riot! (although Russian prison can't be fun)

    1. The gulags would be awful especially if you were locked up with Stephen Fry as a cell mate:)

I cannot believe how infantile his behaviour was in his interview with a Russian minister. He has retrograded the gay cause back at least 50 years with his self inflated importance and ignorance. If he tried that in Saudi Arabia or one of the other Islamic countries he would be hanging from a crane!

  18. Cool presentation. I am struck by the line "Russia is always in pain". This is true.

  19. They are a strong, stalwart people. your poetry reflective of the charms and struggles

  20. Fry is a wonderful ambassador for Russian heterosexuality - just like Madonna. He is weeping for the poor and oppressed. the sweet, darling man.

I know a few cranes. Although large, long-legged and long-necked birds, they would not be able to bear the weight of this tubby person.
