Sunday Scribblings 2
the bell tolls
for tony abbott
finally
malcolm turnbull has won
the jewel in the crown
every crook'd little finger's dream
is to become prime minister
all those years of plotting
and scheming paid off
paradise gained
for a minute
personal advancement
rather than
political conviction
public service?
what's that?
something they do
at the post office ?
now what next?
enough is never enough
is it malcolm?
kerry packer quipped
to a friend once
he even frightens me
never stand between malcolm
and a bag of money
meanwhile the homeless
still sleep outside the library
and under the benches in the shopping mall
in his electorate
He's pretty. But what's inside?
ReplyDeleteAirbrushing...Nah,he's a short arse with the usual chip on his shoulder...changes religion ,political persuasion, convictions, anything to suit the prevailing wind.
ReplyDeleteNow don't be too hard. The whole point of politicians for most of us is not to make things worse which is why so many fall in coups. Always give a new prime minister a year to make a difference from what we had before; then put him to the litmus test of a General Election. My voting pencil is poised.
ReplyDeleteThe post office quip made me smile and an acerbic last verse...if the world shares something it's dicks holding all the power - or is that power holding all their dicks
ReplyDeleteThank you Rallentanda - my psychiatrist may disagree but i refer back to my original comment ;)
DeleteI should imagine that a lot of power upholstery would be essential in keeping an appendage upright. (sigh of relief!) You are so sane and real Jae :) !
DeleteNow matter what their politican persuation, this, sadly will always be the case.

"meanwhile the homeless..."
ReplyDeleteIsn't that always the way it is, no matter who holds the reins of government?
