pink turbans  fire and magic
dark eyes smouldering with secrets
always a constant source of fascination

just teeming with life
colourful
honking cars
industrial strength passion

  2. Beautiful. I loved both of those movies, the first a bit more than the second. I love the colour and life force of India.

  3. This is one side of India, for sure, and the movie image is highly romantic. I, too, turn to such images of vitality to lift my spirits. Marriage is a joyous occasion and also a great image of transformation. You capture that in your poem. (Though I am tempted to argue with your last verse and the "passion on every corner," I love the movies of the Hotel. I like that in your movie clip an elderly woman's loss of vitality is juxtaposed with the exuberance of youth. The adventure of the hotel is also a story of healing the isolation and loneliness of aging. That speaks to me too.)

  4. Yeah, they were great movies, weren't they? And what could be more healing than joy, vitality and passion? Just watching that wedding scene again has left me with a smile.

  9. Indeed! One of my most memorable trips was to India, Rall. And I can certainly say that Indian weddings are quite amazing. One of my University colleagues is Indian and I was invited to his wedding which lasted three days!
