Farewell Berowne

3 WW
eager frenzy guzzle

in the frenzy of the yuletide season
eager to get away for the hols
one of us slipped away
almost unnoticed on the 26th Dec
at the age of 94
dear berowne,  his humour and challenging quizzes
will be missed at three word wednesday
it is hard to believe he is no longer with us
R.I.P berowne
now i'm going to guzzle down a few cold beers
to celebrate your poetic life and think on
all those shakespeare plays you knew inside out
it's a sad day

Berowne's son , John Savage,  invites anyone who enjoyed his father's work to post thoughts or comments or to email him at the following address.

  4. It is sad when one of the poets passes away. Somehow, our paths did not cross, so I feel a double loss.

  6. Thank you for this tribute, Rall. Perhaps one of the places he posted will feature some of his work so those of us who missed out can read ... I would like that to happen for me, I think. And then I want my blogs and Facebook pages to close.

    1. You'll be around for a while yet Susan:) In fact, I forbid you to die before I do, otherwise I will have nowhere to post poems other than in Japanese form... LOL

  8. So often, people choose to leave at this time of year! It seems doubly sad, but perhaps at some level of their consciousness it signifies finality.
