For The Weekend

Heatwave In The Outback

days spent
floating and dreaming to
'dark is the night'
piping out a spray
of memories from
a small cd player in a garden basket
hanging overhead from the old rusty roof
part shading the pool

gazing at billowing white clouds
in a blue sky framed by
the silver of olive trees moving lightly
in the 45 degree shimmering heat
i swim naked

there is nothing quite like
feeling that natural freedom
far away from the city crowds
no one around
just me
the birds
the bugs
the things that sting
pure summer magic
