Memories Of Childbirth

tick the box
natural childbirth
or
assisted childbirth
pain alleviation medication

tsk
natural of course
i'm young and fit
the girl thought smugly

nurse ratched
sneered
knowing what was to come

WHAT!!!!!!
(this was actually an F expletive)
give me that gas
GIVE- IT -TO- ME
more
more
what else have you got?
dear god
i've changed my mind
i want a caesarean

too late now

said dr strangelove

hours later
its over
relief
happiness
check for five fingers and toes
and all the other bits
remembering
my mother's advice

a good screamer
great lungs
potential tenor
a high C already

yep that's our kid
no mix ups
he looks exactly like his father
smashing the  richter  coloratura tonal scale
in the middle of many nights to come

but now
o to sleep for a week
(this  last bit did not happen:)

  3. I'm laughing and crying at the same time. You made me feel this and I love all the allusions. Wow. Hot stuff! I've never given birth. This is close enough!

  4. Ha. This sort of describes my childbirth. I was so angry at my husband when he intervened and talked the md's out of doing a caesarean. I just wanted relief. Great funny poem!

  9. All those clichรฉs—those things you hear about having a baby are finally worth it! Reminds me of when I was in labor 34 yrs ago....
