Money

money makes the world go around
it speaks every language
the root of all evil is and always has been
the  powerful driver of mankind

money can buy almost everything
everyone has a price
the few who cannot be bought
the most dangerous people on earth
are and will be crushed  at every opportunity
by the powerful status quo

mammon is alive and well
as yet he has not yet managed to
squeeze himself through
the eye of the needle

dying his hair orange
to disguise himself as a camel
fools no one

  1. This entire poem is quotable--one line after another, but that final image got a bark of laughter from me. Good.

  5. I'm laughing at the last stanza. Unfortunately, our Orange Camel is no laughing matter. Woe is us!

  6. The last stanza made me laugh out loud...but it is the love of money that is evil. It all depends on who holds the wallet - whether money does good or does nothing at all.

  7. Yeah...had a hearty laugh at the end and as Susan says the entire poem is quotable.

I think Himalayan pink salt is eatable. In hot summer days we eat cucumber with a sprinkle of Himalayan black salt. Delicious & cool :)

  8. We poets had better be careful for the scene depicted pre Nazi domination of Germany when artists and presumably poets too were soon fleeing oppression and persecution. Perhaps it is that lock of hair that does it!

  9. This was delightful...the way you touched on all aspects of money and the way it ensnares. The needle jokes are hilarious!
