large plops of rain
fall on sizzled parched earth
the skies open
torrential rain pelts down
like golf balls hitting the tin roof
the drought breaks
trees and plants breathe a huge sigh of relief
fat bellied frogs in chorus croak in shrills
the tanks fill up to overflow
woohoo full baths tonight
Midweek Motif - Poets United
I do remember knocking my knuckles against the rainwater tank to see if there was enough water for more than a flick wash and that glorious sound of rain on the iron roof. Memories of so many years ago.

Rall, thanks for sharing about your dog. I can well understand the pain of that parting. Amazing he knew you were there. That must have been terribly hard. The dog in my poem belongs to someone else. I walked her all year as a kindness as she was cooped up on a porch too much. But one cant spend time with a dog without loving them, so when her owners decided to give her away my heart broke a little......i will miss her, but even more, i worry she will miss me. Sigh. I still grieve over Pup, so i know the pain of the situation you shared lasted long. Thanks for sharing it with me.
ReplyDeletethat's so much delight....waiting for monsoon!
ReplyDeleteAfter the dry season, rain! A cause for celebration!
