Mid Week Motif Poets United

before
elsewhere in the head
the mellowness switch left in the' on ' position
i had some dreams
they were clouds in my coffee

they disappeared long ago
i had not envisaged
a thickening of the waist line
the greying of the temples
the shock of the mirror
the groan in the  stiffness
of the first morning steps

now
having thrown the bathroom scales
out of the window
it's just floating mounds of vanilla ice cream
on sweet hot coffee
and its not even christmas

  8. Oh, the miracles, that tasty miracles! we discover when we choose to delight on what matters without focusing too hard on what doesn't. What a treat, you've crafted for us. I love the way this poem progress--realistically, healthily, deliciously.

  10. I too am greying and thickening at the waist. Nothing wrong with aging. I enjoyed reading this one.
