where have all the flowers gone
the insects are disappearing too
we are currently on course
for ecological armageddon
oh for the wings of a dove
convenient transport for lady birds
no longer available
would you like to swing on a star
carry moon beams home in a jar
and be better off than you are
or would you rather be a pig
far too many here already
with and without trotters
you can be better than you are
you could be swinging on a star
and who knows
without light pollution
you might even see one
Mid Week Motif - PU
All we need is a few million more poets to think the same way and hopefully open peoples eyes. All that I can think about is how my young grandchildren can cope with the mess we've made.
ReplyDelete"would you like to swing on a star / carry moon beams home in a jar" Sooo love the lines. And I agree with everything what Robin says :)
ReplyDeleteThey are the lyrics of a well known song that baby boomers would know:)
Delete"You can be better than you are." That is the truth. And we have the knowledge and ability TO be, if corporations and greedy buggers didnt run the world.
ReplyDeleteTrue Rall, we can be better than we are. You have nailed it for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you wove the lines from the old song in with your new lines. Indeed, if bees disappeared from this earth, the human race would have tops, four years.
ReplyDeleteOh, love the striking imagery in those first two lines of the second stanza! And yes surely we can be better than we are. Brilliant write, Rall!
ReplyDeleteFor humans that is worrying.
ReplyDeleteVery worrying indeed....The fewer animals we have, the fewer humans we will have. Beautiful poem, Rall. Hope it touches many hearts.
"oh for the wings of a dove
ReplyDeleteconvenient transport for lady birds"
Such a beautiful yet poignant lament
Thanks for dropping by my blog Rall
