Sundays Whirligig # 230

she listened to the river

flowing calmly

by her bedroom window

dreaming of his arms around her

the reality was

he was spoken for

she had been burned before

hanging on to empty promises

wanting to believe  the weaving

of false hope

the whole thing was destructive

the break had to be final

bed river room burned listened weaving

empty dreaming final calm spoke arms

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "The Loft" by Richard Jones:

  2. Lovely writing Rall - initially I though the first four lines were the poem! And even that would have been nicely crafted, luminescent and certainly sufficient enough!
As ever crisp clear writing that never fails to please me... Thank you...

  4. That calm river gives me shivers. A quiet lead up to that sharp final stanza.

  5. Ah, that is a hard place to be. You told a whole tale in those lines.

  6. I hope she breaks from him for her own sanity. Nothing like being involved in a one sided relationship

  7. To love someone who is spoken for takes a great deal of strength and courage. Sometimes it's enough to love❤️ Powerfully penned.
