Carpe Diem #113 Troiku

at dawn
I wash my feet with dew
the longest day

at dawn
the birds don't sing anymore
thick brown smog

i wash my feet with dew
water is scarce and precious
in the dry continent

the longest day
waiting for the call
the sword of damocles

 ...........................................................

at dawn
i look at the sky
no rain yet

the birds don't sing anymore
they hide and make plans
to fly away

thick brown smog
streaked across the window
good morning summer

..........................................................

i wash my feet with dew
the only part of my body
still looking youthful

water is scarce and precious
the drought is taking a toll
 crops and wildlife die

 in the dry continent
 bush fires consume everything
 desperate times

................................................................

the longest day
merging into another one
patience required

waiting for the call
tension fills the fetid air
to leave or not to leave

the sword of damocles
poised to strike a  deadly blow
anyone's guess when

  1. Too sad and too true! At least now we have some rains ... a blessing in some ways, and also a source of new problems.
