Weekly Scribblings # 6 - Poets United

marching to the beat
of a different drum
out of step
with the world
one wonders
what is the point
of being here
until the first sip
of an icy cold
chocolate milk shake

  1. Ha, well realised. Yes, those small sensual pleasures are worth being here for.

My Dad used to complain that poets celebrated the other senses, writing of great paintings or pieces of music etc., but regarded the joys of taste as inferior. And yet that sense is basic for survival, as well as a source of much delight. Thanks, Rall, for bringing us back to basics!

  3. It's the little pleasures. I can imagine someone enjoying a chocolate shake while everyone else is drinking a healthy protein shake. I'd choose the chocolate shake every time.
