first day of autumn
a fleeting wet summer
without bush fires
for a welcome change
gone in a flash
time to put away
the surfing gear
dig out the winter clothes
freeze lots of pea and ham soup
resolve to talk less smile more
and bob's your uncle
Weekly Scribblings # 59
I love pea and ham soup! Welcome Autumn for you!!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAustralia's winter is fairly easy to tolerate unless you are and Tasmanian! However home made pea and ham soup sounds very inviting.
ReplyDeleteEvery line is spot on! I like the way you incorporated the 'Hamilton' line, and the seamless colloquialisms.

,,,"and bob's your uncle" ... Which I'm told has something to do with Irish politics in 1900, is a delightful whimsical ending for your poem! Bravo
ReplyDeleteNice use of the quote! Great resolve actually. Love the music.

Bobby Womack's version is the best I've heard ... a step above The Mama's and the Papa's! Accompanied by a beautifully composed poem.
ReplyDeleteA new season... why not new challenges, new beginnings?
ReplyDeleteI hope your autumn is as colourful as ours was, Rall, especially after the bush fires. Enjoy your winter woollies and soup, and smiling!
ReplyDeleteGreat version of this song. You weave in the words seemlessly.
