memories of the late 60s
a new world
we promised ourselves
freedom
we promised to save the rainforests
and we did
we promised ourselves
a new way of life
and it was
until
the camera clicking tourists found us
buses going by daily
when the word got out
the celebrities came
bringing their junk culture
the movie stars came
greasing palms
building ugly mansions on the beach
and then alas
it was time to go
