for unto us a child is born
soon
in a manger
in the bleak mid winter
such loss
such sadness
such suffering
abounds this year
with so many global catastrophes
look at what we have become
look at what we have done
pray to find the path
back to the light
pray to cleanse the world
of greed
consumerism
racism
egotism
the garden is dying
it needs care and love
and so do we
ad majoram dei gloriam
Maybe it is irony that such hopes are swaddled in so much despair (think it's bad now, imagine the late Bronze Age, with more than half the world enslaved). And yet: "Ad majoram dei gloriam" -- we make this music, and sing these songs, for the glory of heaven on earth. Well done -b
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, Rall. I clarion call to the faint-hearted to re-engage. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteprayers, and action ~
ReplyDeleteAmen! And you picked a favourite carol of mine. So well said.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful prayer I join with you in saying. Suzanne - Mapping Uncertainty.
ReplyDelete" look at what we have become
ReplyDeletelook at what we have done "
Oh, yes, we need loving care! This prayer digs deep. The Bleak Midwinter is one of my favorite carols: "Give him my heart."
Rall — May the joy of the season fill your heart here at the closing if the year 2021, and may peace abide in 2022. This is a most difficult time for our planet earth, and a time of turmoil for its peoples. May 2022 begin the way back! ✌🏼❤️🌎
