The Journey

she had travelled a lot

at all levels

lived in different places

met different people

and what did she learn

gratitude  and relief

relief in not wanting material possessions

freedom in not  needing to conform to the prevailing norms

grateful to have food shelter and a tv

grateful for living in a large country with a small population

some need to journey to outer space

for the ultimate thrill

for others

a ride in an old beetle with Mickey Mouse

through the forest would be even better

  2. I'm with you. When one is happy with what one has, and our needs are small, that makes for contentment.

  3. A delightful poem, full of radical departure and the ironic love of car tunes.

  6. Amen. Gratitude and humility make for the most rewarding journeys -- or maybe those things come from ones learned well!

  8. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's how little we really need in material things.

The older I get, the more simple I want my life to be, free from fixating on stuff. I'm sure this is the natural progression of things.
