Inspired by Sherry's poem
A Song for Big Lonely Doug
STARDREAMING With Sherry Blue Sky
a struggling little community
spend their pennies to save
their 800 year old trees
on the west coast of Canada
the home of poets artists and musicians
the last remaining tree as old as the magna carter
a spiritual stalwart on this earth a witness
and keeper of secrets of the natural world
the trees...our breathing earth angels
a testament to the Lord our God
what kind of rubbish leaders do not think
an 800 year old tree is a very very big deal?
ones who would feel more at home somewhere else
in hellfire

I love the fierce anger in your poem. Sherry's poem did raise some very important issues. It's good to know there is still good in the world
ReplyDeleteI love how Sherry's poem inspired your own. You are right, we need much better leaders, but they are all put in place by corporate lobbyists, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI've just come straight to this from Sherry's poem. It's a great response.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to Sherry and Doug, Rall - the shadow poison forest of extractionist greed has the world clenched tight in its fist.
ReplyDeleteOur leaders are merely feeding themselves these days. Well said.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased to find this this morning, Rall. Thank you for your poem and for helping spread awareness. Right now our village has clearcut half of an in-town forest to make way for housing. And as expected, they are now eyeing the other half. We are fighting to save it. We got over 2000 signatures on a petition. My guess is, we will lose. Argh. Yet we will fight to the last minute.
